SAM PYLATUK
Born: Jan 06, 1932
Date of Passing: Oct 24, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySAM PYLATUK One of my favourite pastimes is to read the obits, and here I am, my 15 seconds of fame! I came into this world on January 6, 1932, and finished my journey October 24, 2014. I came from a large family and got my start early. I served with this country's military as a Paratrooper, then started working in the water treatment field with Bullocks Manufacturing. The concept and technology were both new to the public, and it was a growing field. Bullocks was bought by InterCity gas, and then KeepRite, where I completed my employee status. In 1985, my son Doug and I ventured out on our own, and started Olympic Water Conditioning. I continued there until my retirement in 2005. I travelled to some wonderful places, including BC, Hawaii and Germany. My favourite place was home. I know everyone will miss my can-do personality, generosity, sense of humour and special sense of fashion. Who can forget me in my bright orange shorts and rubber boots? I know I will miss my wife of 58 years, Margaret, as well as my son Doug (Susan), daughters Anna (Kevin), Sandy (Mark), and Tammy (Cary). I will live on in the hearts of my grandchildren, Nick, Clayton, (Kim), Jason (Sarah), Samantha, Jennifer, Christopher and great-grandson Riley. I did not tell them enough of how proud they make me and how rich my life is because of them! I will miss the girls waiting on me hand and foot, and running to the store for ice cream. I will miss nagging Margaret about going to bingo so often and turning off the TV in the middle of a show. I will miss fishing with Doug and teasing my daughters. It was a great life, and I would not have traded it for all the world! Please join my celebration of life on Wednesday, October 29 at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Home on 1st Ave. in Gimli, Manitoba. Luncheon will follow at the Lutheran Church at 52 3rd Ave. in Gimli. In lieu of flowers, you may make a donation to your favourite charity in my name. Forever Yours, Sam Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

I had the good fortune to work at Bullocks where I met Sam and kept in touch for many years through his career. Got to know Doug and Margret at Olympic and know how close the family was. There was only one Sepeleptic Sam as we knew him and he will be missed and remembered for his many special characteristics - such as suspenders, dress code and VODKA. Sorry I have missed his funeral as I am in Texas and just found out about Sam's passing - Posted by: Red Hutmacher (friend and co worker) on: Oct 29, 2014

I spoke with Sam on many mornings when I walked by his house with my white dog. I will miss his friendly smile and lively conversation. - Posted by: Elaine Gibbs (Neighbor) on: Oct 29, 2014

so sorry to hear about your loss, we met Sam and Margaret thru Doug and Susan. He was a kind gentle man, yet stood his ground. We spent many weekends camping with Doug and Susan and Sam and Margaret always were there and very welcoming to us and our girls. One memory of camping with them is when sam wanted to go to bed at 8 p.m. we had to be quiet... rest in peace Mr. Pylatuk... - Posted by: leanne vermette () on: Oct 28, 2014

To the PYLATUK FAMILY my condolences. Sam was a sharp, fun person to be with, always had a laugh when he was around. He was always willing to share his knowledge of water treatment. Will be missed - Posted by: Rick Okaluk (Friend) on: Oct 27, 2014

Laura and I met Sam many years ago, in becoming neighbours of their son and daughter-in-law. Our friendship with the Pylatuks continue to this day, and we are proud to be a part of what we consider Sam and Margaret's extended family. We were invited to Pylatuk family gatherings, and we'd make a point of just popping-in at their home when in the area; always feeling welcomed. Margaret insisted on adding a little something to the coffee, and they both shared an interest in our family (asking about the kids and caring about how we were all doing). Conversation oftened turned to current events and Sam always had something to say about... well... he always had something to say about everything, and would make us laugh every time we visited. A funny guy - a caring friend - someone we could all look up to. One never knows the right words to say when receiving a call on the passing of a good friend; though we are deeply saddened, we look back on the good times we shared - and that helps. We'll miss you, Sam (Thank you for sharing your life with us!) - Posted by: Blair Wagner (friend) on: Oct 27, 2014
