Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDR. ROMEO MARCELO HIZON It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, and grandfather, Dr. Romeo Marcelo Hizon, on October 24, 2014 at the age of 75. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife Erlinda Ngantian Hizon; daughter Jeanne San Miguel (Reden), sons Romeo Hizon Jr. (Katherine) and Rick Anthony Hizon (Cherylyn); stepdaughters Jamie and Jocelyn Ngantian; grandchildren Deven, Alaia, and Aiden San Miguel, Romeo Ryan and Kaitlin Hizon; sister Corazon Bernardo (Juanito) in the Philippines and Angelito Hizon (Florian) of Virginia, USA. Also, left to cherish his memory are his brothers-in-law Joe Ngantian and Eugene Ngantian and family; as well as numerous friends and extended family. Romy, as he was affectionately known, was born on October 14, 1939 in Manila, Philippines and was a native of Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija. He spent his youth in Sta. Rosa and nearby Cabanatuan City. Romy graduated from medical school at the University of Santo Tomas, also in Manila. Romy was predeceased by his parents, Leogarda and Amado Hizon; his first wife Efigenia Miclat Hizon and his brother Francisco Hizon. Romy first came to Canada in the early 1970s, arriving in Regina, Saskatchewan. He and Efigenia moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba shortly thereafter. Once here, he did short training stints at several area hospitals before obtaining a staff physician position at the old Municipal Hospitals of Winnipeg (now known as Riverview Health Centre), where he was employed for over 12 years. Romy and Efigenia were blessed with three children, Romeo Jr., Jeanne and Rick. After Efigenia's passing in 1992, Romy would remarry in 1999 to Erlinda and be blessed with another 15 years of marriage. During that time frame Romy would also be blessed with five beautiful grandchildren. He was a loving grandfather, and was proud of each of them in their own way. He dearly wished to be with us long enough to see each of them complete their studies. Sadly enough, God called him home too soon. The children of Romy would like to extend their gratitude to their stepmother Erlinda for her loving care and attention for Dad, especially in these last few years with his declining health. We would also like to give special thanks to Jamie and Jocelyn, as we know that you both were a big help to Dad with his many appointments and errands and that you held a special place in his heart. Friends may pay their respects at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. from 6:00 p.m. 12:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014. A celebration of his life will take place at 7:00 p.m., presided over by Pastor Daryl Rempel, of Heritage Baptist Church. Cremation will take place the following day. Dad, you have left such a huge void in our lives, we are heartbroken with your loss. Time may numb our pain, but our hearts will never forget you. You showed us what true strength and devotion to family means; we will honour you by doing the same for ours. Dad, we love you so much. Rest in Peace.
