Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARGARET GOERTZEN September 16, 1922 - October 25, 2014 It is with great sadness that the family announces the sudden, yet peaceful passing of our sister, aunt and great-aunt Margaret on Saturday, October 25, 2014 in her home at Riverwood Square. She was 92. Margaret leaves to cherish her memory her sisters Katherine Penner and Mary Dyck, sister-in-law Mary Ann (Jake), her brothers Bill (Donna) and Irvin (Helen), and many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by her parents David and Margaret, three brothers, David, Isaac and Dave, sisters Linda and Annie, and brothers-in-law John Penner and Ernest Dyck. Margaret was born in Steinfeld, Southern Russia and emigrated from Russia to Canada with her parents and sister Katherine in 1930. In the 1960s, Margaret opened her own business in Winnipeg (Margaret's Beauty Salon on Pembina Highway) becoming one of very few women to do so during that time. Margaret's life was filled with family and travels that took her all over the world. Never one to sit still for long, she kept herself busy throughout her life, and even though her later years forced her to slow down, she never stopped going out on short trips with her friends and family around the city and surrounding areas. A memorial service will be held at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Boulevard on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. THOMSON "IN THE PARK" 204-925-1120 Condolences may be sent to www.thomsoninthepark.com

I first met Margaret when she came to Riverwood Square and every Saturday she would get on the City Bus and go get her hair done. Every Sunday she would walk across Pembina Highway to go to Church. Margaret was the most Independent, Strong, Caring, Loyal person I have met. I admired Margaret and told her so every Saturday and Sunday. What an Amazing Lady. I will miss you always but will never forget you. Thank You Margaret for giving me a Wonderful 6 years of always taking the time to share your life history with me. You are Amazing!! Love You and will miss you! Trudy - Posted by: Trudy Grimshaw (Riverwood Square Receptionist) on: Oct 28, 2014

Dear Mary and Bill and the rest of the family. What great siblings you were to your sister when you lived in the rooming house on Sherbrook street in the late 40's and early 50's. What a kind caring family you were to me as I came up to your suite and you always welcomed me in with treats. God grant you his peace as you celebrate a life well lived. - Posted by: Roma Klassen Niessen (Friend) on: Oct 28, 2014
