WILLIAM (BILL) ERNEST REILLY March 19, 1931 - October 25, 2014 It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our husband and father on Saturday, October 25, 2014, aged 83, at the St. Boniface Hospital. Bill leaves to mourn his wife of 54 years, Roberta, his sons Grant (Kelly), Cam (Donna), Ron (Grant), his grandchildren Terry, Taylor, Kelsey, Andrew, Noah, and Jordyn, and great-grandson Preston. Also left to mourn his passing, are brothers Barry (Lorna) and Robert (Susan), as well as many nieces and nephews. Dad was predeceased by his oldest son Greg in 2004. Born in Salsbury, Lansdowne District, MB to Hazel (Fyfe) and Wilfred Reilly, Dad spent his early years living on the Reilly homestead later leaving to attend high school in Neepawa. After a few years working in the Gladstone Locker Plant as a Meat Cutter, Dad began his career as a Locomotive Engineer with CN, retiring after 38 years of dedicated service. Work brought Dad to Winnipeg where he met Mom and they were married in 1960, settling for many years in Windsor Park. In retirement, he and Mom enjoyed their 5th Wheel travels to Mesa and Texas, as well as their journeys to the east and west coasts. Always active, Dad enjoyed 10 pin bowling during his working years, and was a member of Transcona Golf Club in retirement, spending many great days on the links with his senior golf league. Dad was very hard working, holding great pride in a job always well done. He was never too busy to help with any job; pour a concrete sidewalk, build a garage, shingle a roof, or fix your plumbing. Dad took on his second career when Mom and Dad moved to Oakridge Point Condominiums, 20 years ago, where he created his role of building maintenance. He knew every inch of the building, ensuring boilers were fixed, light bulbs were changed, and window cleaning was scheduled. The residents held Dad in high regard, recently honouring him as he stepped down due to failing health. This was Dad, well respected, always leaving one better off having known him. We will miss Dad's helping hands, words of wisdom, as well as his quick wit. Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., Niakwa Country Club, 620 Niakwa Rd. Ph: 204-256-7326. The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of 6E, St. Boniface Hospital for their compassion and support during Dad's final days. Your kindness was very comforting at such a difficult time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation or the Manitoba Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.
