BARRY EDWIN SCHNEIDER June 19, 1936 - October 20, 2014 With great sadness the family announces the passing of Barry Edwin Schneider at the Victoria Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, on Monday, October 20, 2014. He leaves behind his daughter, Cathleen (Peter) Thurston; his son, Clayton; his grandsons, Tyrel (Sarah) Thurston, Brody (Rachel) Thurston, and Curtis Schneider, and great-grandchildren Gage, Aedre, and Tyrran Thurston. He was predeceased by his wife Marian Arlene (Sutcliffe), his brother Rickard Philip, his son Rickard Barry, and his father Edwin Schneider of Regina. Barry was born in Regina, SK, but later lived in Penticton, BC where he met and married Marian Sutcliffe on July 16, 1957. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in October 1953 and served for five years on the west coast, and then on the east coast for five years, taking his discharge in February 1964. He went to work at the Chrysler warehouse in Regina and worked there until it closed in 1970. He then worked at the Chrysler Parts Depot in Winnipeg until he retired in March 1993. Over the years he took up hunting, bowling, and golf. In his later years he spent his time reading and watching his teams on his big screen TV. He was an ardent sports fan: he cheered on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and the Winnipeg Jets, but his favourite teams were the Chicago Black Hawks and the Minnesota Vikings. His family would like to thank everyone at home care for helping him stay in his home for as long as he could....with a special thank you to nurse Debbie. Cremation has taken place and a private family gathering will be held at a later date.
