JOYCE DOREEN DOAK (nee PYM) On Sunday, October 26, 2014, with family by her side, Joyce passed away at the Victoria Hospital, at the age of 84 years. Left to lovingly remember Joyce are her four sons, Arthur, Bradley (Nancy), Harry (Sharon), and Fred (Kathy); grandchildren Darren (Kayla), Rheanne (Adam), and Serena; sister Vivian (William) Joss, as well as extended family. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur in 2011. Joyce was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, to Harry and Lida Pym, and raised in Thunder Bay, Ontario. She moved to Winnipeg in 1961. Following graduation from high school, she graduated from nursing in 1951 from McKellar Hospital. Joyce worked at Heritage Lodge Personal Care Home in Winnipeg for many years. She was active in many pursuits including her church, where Joyce was a member of Kirkfield Park United Church choir as well as playing the piano when needed. She enjoyed curling, golfing, knitting, culinary arts, playing bridge, cribbage, and numerous other card games with the family on Sundays. Once Art and Joyce retired, they enjoyed some travelling throughout Canada and the United States. On Wednesday, November 5, 2014, Joyce's Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. in Kirkfield Park United Church, 472 Kirkfield Street, Winnipeg, MB. Interment will be held in Mountain View Cemetery, Thunder Bay prior to the service. The family would like to acknowledge the care that Joyce received from the staff at Victoria General Hospital, especially nurses Rowena and Crystal on Unit 5. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Kirkfield Park United Church, the Parkinson's Society, Manitoba Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
