Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySANDRA KONCAN Sandra Koncan of Selkirk, Manitoba passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2014. She is survived by her daughters Nada (Neil), Yohanna (Michael) and granddaughters Ava, Toni, Veda and Niko. She was predeceased by her grandson Gabriel. Mom was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on May 11, 1946. She was a creative soul and had great love of all things beautiful such as flowers, plants and antiques. She took great pride in her home taking the time to decorate as she truly loved beautiful surroundings. Mom was an exceptional gardener who could easily identify and name countless plants and flowers. She knew and recited endless hymns and gospel songs. Towards the end of her life she would sing for anyone who would listen. She believed in and had an incredibly strong work ethic. There were times in her life when she worked more than one job at any given time to support herself. Mom lived with the diagnosis of Schizophrenia most of her adult life. When things were difficult her faith in God sustained her. Mom's strength, determination, independence, perseverance and resilience continued to make her a valued part of the community, and our family, throughout her life. A special thank you to Pamela Pockett and Laurel Mitchell for your support of our Mom and family; words cannot express the gratitude we feel. We would also like to recognize the special friendships Mom had with Maureen, Bernice and her sister Joanne. Thank you for valuing mom and helping her throughout the years. Additionally we would like to thank Amanda, Corazone, Glenn, Susan, Heather, Tony, Dr. Walji, Dr. Kohmosky, Angela, Caroline, Carolynn, Chris L, Chris, Chris, Judy, Lily and Carly of the Selkirk Mental Health Centre. Apologies if we left out a name. We do want you to know you all made a difference in our mom's life. Caroline thank you for the compassion and sensitivity you showed our mom and family throughout her care most especially the night before her passing. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these sunken eyes and learn to see All your life You were only waiting for this moment to be free. Blackbird fly Blackbird fly Into the light of the dark black night. Blackbird singing in the dead of night Take these broken wings and learn to fly All your life You were only waiting for this moment to arise Mom, you have been set free fly! We love you... To all those living with mental health issues, their families and supports please remember that each and every one of you are a value and have an important place in the world. We are all a gift and belong here. When you feel as if there is no hope, take a deep breath and please don't give up. No service will be held at this time.

As a friend of your mother since the seventh grade, I have to say we lived life to the fullest. She surely loved to dance and you knew when she was on the dance floor as she'd be twirling all over the place. I also remember when she met Tony. She fell for him like a rock. My last visit to her was at the trailer. She was a good friend and I'll miss her. R.I.P Sandra Jenny - Posted by: Jenny Lamoureux (High school friend) on: Jun 26, 2021

We often talked about Faith and how it can sustain us. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time. - Posted by: Lucie Kuly (Friend) on: Nov 05, 2014
