Date of Passing: Oct 24, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIA GAGE Maria Gage (Nana) September 4, 1934 - October 24, 2014 It is with great sadness that we announce, with family by her side, the peaceful passing of Maria Gage on October 24, 2014 in Parksville BC. She is survived by her four children, Maria Ward (Parksville, BC), Les Fodor (Winnipeg, MB), Steven Fodor (Winnipeg, MB), Susan Fodor (Winnipeg, MB), all her in-laws, her 10 grandchildren and eight great-grand-children. She worked very hard her entire life, living it to the fullest, retiring from the hospital, and enjoying her retirement living with her daughter Maria. In accordance to Nana's wishes, cremation has taken place, and no funeral will be held. Nana will be lovingly remembered for her strong, stubborn, fearless personality and un-judging generous heart. The family's fondest memories were her stories from her birth place in Budapest, Hungary, her chicken and dumplings, and all the meals we enjoyed with her. She enjoyed making crochet doilies, tablecloths, and dresses for all family members. She loved to garden and family was of great importance to her. She was very proud of her accomplishments in life and her children's accomplishments. A celebration of her life will take place in the summer of 2015, with a spreading of ashes ceremony in BC where family and friends can say, "see you later, until we meet again."

Our Nana is a strong woman who taught us all to be strong, stubborn and take care of our own. Her life was a struggle raising her own kids as well as her kids, kids and their kids kids lol. We all carry her stubborn trait which I believe is a strong trait. There are no sharks in the pacific ocean between the main land and the island as my nana explained even though I argued in the end of it all she is right because she is my nana and to believe in the thought of a stubborn strong woman, that means the world to many of us she cannot be wrong in the eyes of the ones she loves and always will. The sleeping giant in Ontario we looked for and walked all over it. My Nana was scared for me as I was young and fearless she feared for me as I ran even towards cliffs carrying my fears for me to be free. I as well as many of her children are grateful for what she accomplished in her time here and what she has helped us mould into as the people we have become. We will always carry her with us as she is now free. - Posted by: Tomas Fodor (geand son) on: Nov 01, 2014
