MARGUERITE (PEGGY) ASHCROFT February 11, 1930 - October 30, 2014 Peacefully, after a brief illness, Peggy left us on Thursday, October 30, 2014. Peggy was predeceased by her parents Julien and Stephen Wall, her beloved husband Frank, daughter-in-law Leslie, and siblings Frank, James, Eileen, Pat, Kathleen and Mary. Peg is survived by her children David (Alison), Judy (John) and Don (Deb), her grandchildren David, Duncan, Jane, Shauna, Meaghan, Charlotte and William, sister Sheila Paul (Maurice), brother Stephen Wall (Adele), sisters-in-law Margaret Harrison and Joan Ashcroft, brother-in-law Basil Ashcroft, and numerous nieces and nephews. Peg knew what was important in life; family, friends and faith. Peg led an exemplary life. In her marriage she demonstrated unselfish love, as a mother she guided with gentle wisdom, as a grandmother she shared her warmth and an unlimited amount of love, and as a friend she enjoyed just being with you to talk, share a cup of coffee, travel or maybe shop for shoes. Peg's faith was strong and unwavering. She was a member of St. John Brebeuf Parish and choir since 1964. The choir was an integral part of Peg's life and its' members were some of her dearest friends. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. John Brebeuf Parish, 1707 John Brebeuf Place, on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Mark Tarrant as celebrant. The family would like to thank the many visitors, doctors, nurses and Victoria General Hospital staff who cared for Peg. When she smiled, thanked you and told you how "perfect" you are she really meant it. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Peg's name to either the St. John Brebeuf School Bursary Fund or the St. Mary's Academy Alumnae Bursary Fund. • Don, to you and your family our deepest condolences on the passing of your mom. Knowing how close you were may all your memories be full of smiles and bring warmth to your hearts. - Posted by: Kostakos and Macfadden Families () on: Nov 05, 2014

  • Peggy's beautiful smile and warmest greetings are going to be missed next time I travel to Winnipeg. My mom was one of Peggy's best friends. Mom has shared her tremendous sadness with me over the loss of her shoe shopping pal, fellow chorister and Tim Horton's co-coffee-talker! I send you and your family heartfelt condolences. - Posted by: Carla Lother (friend) on: Nov 04, 2014

  • Hi David. I did not know your mother but I am sure she was proud to see her son raising his children in the same community with the same values as she chose for her own children. An example followed is a compliment given. Hope you and your family are well during this time, Joseph Langan - Posted by: Joseph Langan (Friend of Family) on: Nov 03, 2014

  • I fondly remember the warmth of the Ashcroft home and enjoying going there for an afternoon play date as a child. If Don did not have the latest and greatest toy, his older brother David always did. My thoughts and prayers are with David, Judy, and Don and all your families and I regretfully will be away for the funeral! • "Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, man cannot live without a spiritual life". Peg's spiritual belief sustained her in life, gave her joy, peace and strength. It also gave her the blessing of dignity in her final days. May your memories of Peg always be joyful. Our thoughts are with you.
