ALICE BEATRICE TOMAC (nee DUPUIS) It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Alice Beatrice Tomac (nee Dupuis) on Thursday, November 6, 2014, four days short of her 97th birthday. A loving and caring lady, she epitomized all the values religiously and socially that defined women of the post war era. Born and raised in St. Jean Baptiste, MB, her parents, Alphonse and Anna instilled the faith and work ethic that made her the woman she was. She met the man of her life, Joseph Tomac, on the S.S. Keenora just after the Second World War and together they made the' commitment. Benefiting from that commitment are her heirs, daughter, Janet (Reg) Evans and her family; Amanda Balasubramanian (Peter, daughters, Cate and Annalise), Ronan Chester (Amy), and Rachel Evans, and Alice's son, Donald (Ruth) Tomac, and his family; Anjanette Zielinski (Greg, and daughter, Melodie), Jill Tomac, and Margaux (Joel Braund). A devout Roman Catholic, mother chose to follow the teachings of the Lord and Mother Mary throughout her life and we know her efforts were discreet and sincere. In keeping with mother's wishes, a funeral mass celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, November 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, 252 Dubuc Street, St. Boniface. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Holy Cross Parish. The Coutu Family in care of arrangements: E.J. COUTU & CO. • Matante Alice, my godmother, was very special to me and I will miss her dearly. She shared with me the wisdom of her years, her appreciation of the simple and beautiful things in life, her unwavering faith, and her devotion to Mary, the Blessed Mother. Her greatest joy was her family -- she was so proud of all of you! Janet, Donnie and families, the love and support of a mother and grandmother can never be replaced, but we hope you find some strength, in the love of family and in the warm embrace of friends. With my deepest condolences, Elaine - Posted by: Elaine Bernardin (Niece and godchild) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • We are so sorry to hear about Alice's passing. We had the privilege of meeting Alice at several family gatherings and saw her sitting quietly enjoying her family all around her. She was very blessed with such a closeknit family and the care and love that all of you have given her over the years. Janet, Donnie and your families, we are thinking of you in this trying time and hope that all the memories you have with her will help you through. Much love.
