BRENDA JANE HILL
Date of Passing: Nov 05, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBRENDA JANE HILL It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Brenda Jane Hill after a short, courageous battle with cancer. She passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on November 5, 2014 at the age of 54 years. She was predeceased by her father, Phillip Roy and her sister, Linda Roy. She is survived by her husband, Raymond Hill; her daughters Alana Krishka (Jason) and Amanda Hill; granddaughters Talia and Tayne. She is also survived by her mother Marilyn Roy; sisters Donna Audet (John) and Lori O'Neill (Kevin); brother Neil Roy (Sharon); sister-in-law Heather Matthies (Dave); brother-in-law Steven (Christine); nieces Nicole, Marina, Rylee; and nephews Bryce, Brennan, Jesse-Bear and Bretton; she will also be dearly missed by her extended family and her many dear friends. Brenda was so many things to so many people. Her favourite times were when she was surrounded by family, whether it was a beach/boat day, a holiday dinner or their annual Boxing Day open house on Netley Creek. One of her greatest joys in life was being a grandma to her two favourite girls. Being a journeyman carpenter, crafter, quilter, golfer, skier, singer, puzzler, adventurer and world traveler were among her many talents and passions. To know her was to love her. She will be missed by all. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at CancerCare and Selkirk Hospital for going above and beyond. We would also like to thank all those who helped us during this difficult journey with meals, travel and support. It meant the world to us. A celebration of Brenda's life will be held on Friday, November 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Gilbart Reception Center, 309 Eveline St. in Selkirk, MB after a private family interment. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Brenda can be made to the Palliative Care Program Selkirk General Hospital or to CancerCare Manitoba. My thoughts are with Brenda's friends and family. Very sad to hear of her passing. I knew Brenda while living in Pinawa in the 70's. Brenda was always very friendly. I recall watching her figure skate at the local arena one day and was very impressed by her athleticism. Looking at others' memories of Brenda shows a common theme that whatever she put her mind to she excelled at. Very impressive. I feel fortunate to have known Brenda. Rest in peace Brenda. - Posted by: Colin Brown (Friend) on: Nov 18, 2014

Ray---Your Brenda was a gift to us all---You've done more together and done it well, than most do in two lifetimes."I'm Free"--Don't grieve for me,for now I'm free,I'm following the path God laid for me.I took his hand when I heard his call,I turned my back and left it all.If my parting has left a void, This fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared,a laugh,a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss.Be not burdened with times of sorrow,I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full,I savoured much,Good friends, good times,a love one's touch.Perhaps my times seemed all too brief,Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.Lift up your heart and share with me,God wanted me now,he set me free.unknown My thoughts&prayers are with you All---uncle Bill Vernon. - Posted by: Bill Vernon (Uncle) on: Nov 12, 2014

I met Ray and Brenda only once, on a visit back home to Winnipeg. Bruce and Cheryl took me to Ray and Brenda's caboose and what a fun day we had! Ray and Brenda could not be more welcoming, congenial-you were just family right away. Whenever Bruce and Cheryl talked of their dear friends, the Hills were always mentioned. As my brother said this last week when he told me of Brenda's passing, "We lost a dear friend and the world lost a great person!" There are many aching, broken hearts right now and I pray for peace and comfort for each and every one of them. What a joy and treasure to have had your life touched by Brenda. - Posted by: Sheila McEntire (sister of Bruce McLean) on: Nov 10, 2014

My favorite memory is of Ray and Brenda. Way back to their first apartment when Brenda was pregnant with Alana. Ray was so excited he made Brenda lay down and began slapping books over her belly to make the baby kick. When she finally did you could not have seen a father be more excited. He also had to show us the 5 dollar bill he had tucked behind the phone for that ride to hospital. Two so very young people who had such a great life together. - Posted by: Barb Gagnon (Friend (hen)) on: Nov 08, 2014

Three years ago we rented the condo next door to Brenda and Ray in Apache Junction, Arizona. It was our first winter vacation to the Southern United States. Brenda was there on her own and made us very welcome, giving us so much help in getting used to our new surroundings. She introduced us to the local state parks where we had many great hikes together, took us to restaurants, shopping and showed us the best place for dynamite crunch ice cream in a home made waffle cone! We had such a great time we have been going there ever since and have continued our friendship over the last two years. We will miss her smiles and laughter and mourn the loss of a wonderful relationship for the rest of our time in Arizona. - Posted by: Derek & Ann Mallows (Arizona friends) on: Nov 07, 2014
