Born: Nov 12, 1956
Date of Passing: Nov 05, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRAYMOND GRANT TOOTH November 12, 1956 - November 5, 2014 "Sugar Ray" It is with great sadness but with loving memories we announce the passing of Ray Tooth on November 5 at the Selkirk General Hospital. Ray had fought a courageous battle against pancreatic cancer. Ray leaves to mourn his beloved wife Heather; mother Ethel; brother Dan (Judy); sisters Rhonda (Brian) and Roxanne (Chris); sister-in-law Pat; mother-in-law Lorraine; sisters-in-law Leah, Joanne (Joe) and Allyson; aunt Judy; nephews Danny, Parker, Spencer and nieces Kristin, Lindsay (Josh), Domenica (T.J.), Austin and Izabella. Ray was predeceased by his father Ken and father-in-law Lloyd. Ray met the love of his life, Heather Baird, in 1977 at a good old fashioned Winnipeg social. They married in 1981 with the condition that Heather got her driver's licence since their residence would be in the country. They spent 33 wonderful years at "Tooth Acres". Ray's passion was snowmobiling with his buddies every Sunday morning, his summer holidays at Jessica Lake Lodge with Heather, and his times with Lorne, Dave and Bob at Sherwood Lake. He loved farming and the farming community. Ray was always there to give a neighbour a helping hand. Having Ray in your life was a true blessing. Ray was employed in the paper industry starting at Reed Paper (1976-1988), Daishowa (1988-1999), Red River Packaging Products (1999-2012) and most recently at Atlantic Packaging Products Ltd. Ray was well-respected in the industry and made many lasting relationships throughout his life. This was evident by the many visits from customers and colleagues which made Ray's battle easier during his hospital stay. A special thanks to dear friends Robert and Heather Mirecki and Brian and Gaetanne Farley for all their love and support. The family thanks the staff for the care Ray received at Selkirk General Hospital especially Dr. Zoppa with acknowledgement to nurses Jessica and Jeff who were at Ray's side at the time of passing. Also, Selkirk Cancer Navigation Services was very supportive especially for Heather during this time. A celebration of Ray's life will take place on Wednesday, November 12, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Reception Center, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Very sad news about Ray. I always enjoyed our time when he called on us when he was at Red River Pkg. We enjoyed a few golf games, though Ray would not call it exactly golf, more like whack F&*^. A few tasty beverages were had. Was happy to know him over the last 12 years. - Posted by: Martin Shaff (Business Associate (was my rep at Pratts Wholesale)) on: Nov 18, 2014

My sincerest condolences to Heather and the Tooth family. Ray was such the sweetest guy, I have many happy memories from our high school days. From the time I met Ray 41 years ago to now, nothing has changed in the way I think of him. He was my husband's best friend and he became like a brother to me. He was often the voice of reason (not that we listened!). We called him "mother Ray" because he looked after everyone. Even though we teased him about the nickname, it was always a good feeling to know that you could always count on him. He took the teasing well, though; Ray was always able to laugh at himself. We could never feel bad laughing at funny Ray things because everyone felt such genuine affection for him that no one could be actually laughing AT him. I remember the old snowmobile club days when we played "going on a picnic" endlessly, waiting for Ray to catch on. He never did, so we finally explained it to him and the next day when we tried to tell Heather the story he still didn't get it. We all laughed and Ray laughed the hardest. Ray and Heather made such an unexpected, wonderful couple. Newlywed games, snowmobiling in the dark, bonfires, crazy fun times all included the positive influence of Ray and Heather. Even after I moved away, I could count on a phone call from Ray every once in awhile, checking in, seeing if I was okay. He was a genuine, true fried. A rare find. I am grateful to have had him in my life. I am sorry that I am not close enough to be there but I am hoping that everyone will celebrate his life with appropriate toasts and laughter as he would wish. Cheers Ray. I'd still beat you in caps!! - Posted by: Jan Paseska (Friend) on: Nov 11, 2014

Ray is and will always be my Dad's best friend. We have known him our whole life and will never forget his kindness and happy personality. My sister Adrienne, and I will always remember being so excited to go to the farm to visit the cows, climb the hay bales, ride his quads and of course the chicken coop. Our Uncle Ray will never be forgotten. He met my husband Stephen, and together they have had some great chats, snowmobile rides and a couple of ryes. Uncle Ray may have departed from this earth, but he will never truly leave, for he will always stay alive in our hearts and memories, through our love, he lives on. Heather, please accept my condolences, he will not be forgotten. - Posted by: breanne farley (Special Family Friend) on: Nov 10, 2014

We met Ray and Heather through Brian and Gaetanne over 30 years ago. We spent many fun times together at the gatherings and parties hosted be the Farley's over those years. Ray was the real deal, down to earth, the boy next door, genuine, honest, friendly and so likeable. Even if much time passed without seeing each other, when we did reconnect it was as if we had just seen each other yesterday. Heather, you had one of the best. Cherish the memories of your time together. Ray, a great guy, was taken far too soon. You will be missed but not forgotten. - Posted by: Kevin and Debbie Heroux (Friends) on: Nov 09, 2014
