ELIZABETH (BETTY) CORRINS BISHOP Peacefully on Monday, November 3, 2014, with her grandson Dean by her side, Mum passed away at River Park Gardens at 96 years of age. She will be missed dearly by her daughter Carol Dunstone (Jim), grandchildren Debbie Tackaberry (Warren) and Dean Dunstone, and her three treasured great-grandsons Matthew, Jack and Riley. She will also be sadly missed by her brother Jim Magill and his family, brother Don Corrins (Fran), the extended Dunstone family whom she considered as her own and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved very much. Mum was predeceased by her husband Albert (Bud) in 1969, as well as her two younger brothers Jack and Bill Magill. No brothers were loved more by an older sister than these four; we learned early on to never to say a bad word about any of them! Mum was born in Saskatoon, SK and moved to Victoria, BC shortly after her marriage in 1939. In her younger years she enjoyed golf and curling and as a child I remember Saturday nights were the highlight of the week as we gathered to watch Hockey Night in Canada. In 1979, she made the move to Winnipeg to allow her to be close to her daughter and family. How lucky were we?! She loved to come and cheer family members on in any sport they were participating in and in her later years, always had the TV tuned to either hockey, curling or golf. She was so proud of any and all accomplishments of each and every one of us. The importance of family was instilled in Mum at a very young age and this was passed down to her daughter and family. The memories that we all have will continue to make us smile for the rest of our lives, stories will be passed down with laughter abound. You taught us all about the importance of unconditional love and as her grandchildren will attest, she always "had their backs"! At the Mother's Day tea at River Park Gardens this past May, we were drinking our tea and out of the blue Mum asked me if she thought she would go with the angels when her time came. I gave a little chuckle and said "Mum, although you have always had a bit of the devil in you, I know the angels are waiting for you with open arms." The family would like to give a special thanks to Nancy and the wonderful staff at River Park Gardens, there are no words I can think of that can express how thankful we are that Mum was able to live her last years surrounded by such caring, loving and compassionate people. There will be no service but a family celebration of Mum's life will be held at a later date. Donations in Mum's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Carol, Jim, Deb and Deano. So sorry to hear about Mrs. B's passing. I will always remember my trip to BC with Mrs. B to visit her dad, cleaning blueberries at the lake and painting the cottage ceilings. She was so much fun to be around. I know you have many special memories. Love Patti - Posted by: Patti Wuthrich (Vande) (Family friend) on: Nov 11, 2014
