  • "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." - Albert Einstein So heartbreaking to read of Cole's sudden illness and death! One look at his picture and I knew he was Craig's son and from all the news a talented one at that. May you feel the thoughts and prayers of peace and comfort as you mourn. - Posted by: Susan (Schroeder) & Roger Chartier (Friend) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • Please accept my heartfelt sympathy in this time of loss. I only knew Cole when he was here in Spokane playing for the Chiefs, and got to speak with him at a few booster club functions. • I am still in shock as to the quickness of Cole's passing. He was one of the first "secret pals" I was privileged to help with! His smile was always infectious and continuously on his lips. Cole was an amazing young man both on and off the ice. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family as they move forward. Cole, you are now with some greats of hockey, which I am sure you are enjoying. You will be greatly missed by all whose lives you have touched. - Posted by: Deanna Matney (Spokane Chiefs Section Leader/VP Spokane Chiefs Booster Club) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • The moment I heard that Cole had passed away, I just burst into tears. He was one of the sweetest guys I had ever met in my life. After a Chiefs game, I was down waiting for the players when my parents screaming at me about something had caused me to just start crying. When Cole had come out of the locker room, he had seen me crying over by myself. He came over to me and just started making me laugh. Even writing this is making me tear up, and I kind of still hope that sweet, funny guy would come and just make me laugh again. Cole, make sure that you're stopping those tears in Heaven just like you stopped this girl's when you didn't even know my name. You and your family, friends and fans are in my prayers! - Posted by: Robyn Crystal (Fan ) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • My Deepest sympathies to the entire Hamblin family and his close friends. Rest in peace "Hammer" You're skating with the Best now.. Once a Chief always a Chief. - Posted by: Dana Holloway (Spokane Chiefs (Fan)) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • Judy, I cannot find the words to express my sincerest condolences to you and your family during this very difficult time. I never knew your son Cole but from everything I've read he was a fine, upstanding young man; which doesn't surprise me given his roots. I know you will be surrounded by love and support and I hope that the wonderful memories you have of Cole will ease the pain somewhat. Our prayers are with you, Craig and your daughters. Take care, my friend. - Posted by: Colette Carriere (friend from curling) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • Our very deepest sympathies dear Craig, Judy and family, as you are grieving with such heartache the loss of your wonderful Cole, the gentlest of giants. Although his physical presence was so imposing, it was his wide-set grin, from ear to ear which was so disarming and heartwarming. We recall with much fondness dear Cole, a soft spoken, well-mannered and humbly talented young man. Our thoughts are with you and we pray that you find comfort in the memories of his short, yet well-lived life and of all the happiness he brought to so, so many. Heartfelt condolences, The Dupuis - Posted by: Claude, Jo-Ann, Stef, Courtney and Jolene Dupuis (hockey family friends) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • Our Thoughts and Prayers are with your family. Grieve how you want and for how long you want, you all may have your own way and know that it's ok. Every day will be a struggle - best advice I got was JUST BE!!! (someday you will understand) Megan was a great friend with Cole in high school, she understands how you girls are feeling - she is available to talk if ever want to as am I even though we don't know each other. Sometimes the best person to talk to is with someone that has been through the same thing. - Posted by: Sherry Bailey & Megan Wiebe (family that has been where you are ) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • My deepest sympathy goes to you Craig & Judy as well as Jena & Samantha. I feel the pain you must be going through and my prayers are with you. RIP Cole. I was a friend of both sets of your grandparents. Yvette Evans (Havers, Wiebe) - Posted by: Yvette Evans (Family friend) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • I met Cole through a mutual friend, he was a funny, laid back guy just like myself so we got a long. He was always a guy you could joke around with on the ice, even if you were on opposing teams. Among everything Cole was, he was a great person, who will deeply missed. My sincerest condolences to the Hamblin family. - Posted by: Brayden Cuthbert (friend) on: Nov 10, 2014

  • I remember Donald's first day of grade 2 in St. Adolphe, with him coming home and he was so excited that he made a new friend, Cole. And then continuing with "you know he is just as tall as me!" He had the biggest smile. That's who Cole was, one to make friends and leave a lasting impression. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Cole and you will always be the friend with that big heart. Craig and Judy and girls our deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Linda, Alain, Donald, Lindsy & Pat (Donald early years school friend) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • Cole/Hamblin Family, You don't know me but I found your story through a posting board and my family and I were thinking about you. I'm a country away and you see, I also found out I had the same diagnosis as you just a few months before you did (Mucep). Fortunately, my struggles were no where near the level of yours. I'm so sorry. I'm very sorry family's loss, and just know that even strangers are thinking of you and lifting you up! - Posted by: JT (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • So hard to find the words for such a terrible loss. Just know that my heart is with you, as is Cole's - he may have left in the physical, but never in spirit, nor from your memories & your hearts. Keep talking to him - he'll hear you. Sadly, it's often the brightest star that shines the brightest, and burns out quickest - only God knows why (greater purpose on the other side perhaps). My most sincere & heart-felt sympathies to you, Judy, Craig, the entire family & loved ones. - Posted by: Doreen ((former co-worker, friend)) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • I met Cole at a hockey rink in WPG. He was playing summer hockey and I was reffing. I saw Hamblin on the back of his jersey so I started to scout the crowd for his dad. Well it didn't take me long to find him and then I proceeded to have some fun with Cole as I had grown up with his mom and dad in Morris, MB. Cole was a big defenceman like his dad with exceptional skills ,after the game we talked briefly and he was so polite as he told me he also had fun. It's with our deepest regrets to hear of Cole's passing. Our hearts go out to Craig and Judy and Family! - Posted by: Bobby Derksen sr. (Friend) on: Nov 09, 2014

  • I will remember Cole as vibrant, funny, polite and a good friend and classmate to my daughter Allison, who went to school with him in St. Adolphe from K-8. He was the star of all Christmas concerts and plays, a great hockey ambassador to the St. Adolphe community, and a credit to his parents. My thoughts are with the entire Hamblin family. • I've known Cole since I was just starting out in hockey. I always would remember Cole's exceptional skill and work ethic. My dad told me a story how we would play in the St. Adolphe winter carnival as 7 year olds, 3 on 3. I remember how skilled he was with the puck at such a young age and he continued this to his game right through Junior hockey to College. He would always be a guy to make you laugh on and off the ice and could change your bad day around in a second. Cole was an amazing person and I was grateful for the times, laughs, hockey spent together. The Fostey family sends our deepest condolences and prayers to the Hamblin family.
