BETTY FELEDECHUK (nee Nenka, Kulczycki) February 12, 1937 - November 4, 2014 Betty was born on the family farm in Sundown, Manitoba. She was the eldest daughter of Steve and Mary Nenka. After completing grade 8 she moved to Winnipeg where she worked in a sewing factory. Betty loved to dance and enjoyed barn dances on the weekend. She met and married Mike Kulczycki and they had two daughters Sandra and Shelly. They lived in a modest home in the north end where Betty was a stay at home mom and enjoyed every minute of it. She was a whiz in the kitchen. Her family says she made the best perogies in Winnipeg. She baked home made donuts and cinnamon buns for the neighbourhood kids. Her home was always a welcoming place. Everyone loved Betty because of her fun and giving nature. She always put everyones needs before her own. Betty enjoyed many activities such as volunteering at the kids school, playing bingo, bowling, doing crosswords, puzzles and Jumbles as well as trips to the Casino. She loved to garden and had beautiful flower beds. She had the knack to bring plants back to life. Once her daughters had grown Betty went back to work at the corner store: The Butcher Boy. She was in her element; she loved people and enjoyed the interaction with customers. She was very popular with all the Butcher Boy patrons. At 40 Betty got her driver's license and her freedom. She got the travel bug and took a trip every year. On a bus trip to the Rose Bowl she met and fell for Nick Feledechuk. They married in July, 1997 and together they travelled the world. Their travels were far and wide. The major trips included Hawaii, Alaska, Branson, Cuba, the Caribbean, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Arizona and the Panama Canal. Nick and Betty loved to entertain and play cards with friends in their homes in Gimli and later in Birds Hill. Betty was a wonderful Baba. She took great pride in her grandsons and spoiled them every chance she could. She was always there to help with babysitting, birthdays and never arrived empty handed. It was tradition for her to take the boys to the Red River Exhibition. Betty was predeceased by her parents Steve and Mary Nenka, her brothers Paul and Mike Nenka. She leaves to mourn her husband Nick, her daughters Sandra (David) Anonsen, Shelly (Ken) Andrews, her grandsons Mitchell, Colton, and Torrin. She also leaves her sister Edna, brothers Maurice and Bobby Nenka and sisters-in-law Helen, Michelle and Dorilda Nenka as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends. Funeral services will be held at Glen Eden Chapel at 4477 Main Street on Wednesday, November 12 at 10:00 a.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
