MARGARET (PEGGY) WEST It is with heavy hearts we say goodbye to Mom. Peacefully on October 29, 2014, at the age of 89, Mom continued her journey in life. Peggy was born in Stanley, Scotland in 1923. She followed her husband Allan to Canada in 1953 where they settled and made their home together. She was always singing or humming a tune even to her son's rock n roll music. Peggy worked as a Nurse's Aide at the St. Boniface Hospital for 25 years. She and Allan travelled back home to Scotland frequently to visit family as well as took winter vacations to the United States, Caribbean and part of Canada. She was involved in the Scottish community in Winnipeg and especially enjoyed the sounds of the bagpipes. Mom also had a great love for her dogs and granddogs. The apple of her eye was her granddaughter Jena. She was predeceased by her brother John McLean. Peggy will be welcomed with longing, loving arms of her husband Allan. Peggy is survived by her son Al (Penny) and granddaughter Jena who will deeply miss her but know she is where she belongs now. She is also survived by her brother Jack McLean. Thank you to the staff of 2C at Concordia Place. You have all been so caring during her stay of two and a half years. Your ice cream order can be reduced now. A private family service has taken place. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Sorry to hear of the loss of your mom. Your mom will always have a special place in my heart. I remember as a young child stopping into to see your mom and dad when I was at that end of our street on Whittier. Your mom always made me feel special whenever we met. What a sweet, sweet lady. Her lovely accent and sweet smile was very special. She always teased me that I should learn the bagpipes. Now I only wish that I had. I remember meeting up with her at the many parades that my grandparents Mattie and Wilson Strachan took me to. My parents Jean and Ken James as well as Grandma Strachan send you our thoughts and prayers through this time. What a blessing to have had the opportunity to have had her in my life! - Posted by: Barb Wedel nee (James) (Granddaughter of Mattie Strachan) on: Nov 09, 2014
