DR. FRAN STEINBERG We are deeply saddened by the death of our mom and wife, Dr. Fran Steinberg. A funeral will be held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on Monday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. A full obituary will follow. In lieu of flowers please donate to http://igg.me/at/franscholarship in her honour.

  • It was with shock and dismay that I just learned today (Jan 31 2015) of the passing of Fran Steinberg (I now live in Kelowna and news is late). She was in my chemistry class at St. Johns high school in the late 60's and early 70's. Fran was instrumental in helping me coach the "Reach for the Top" team. She and Harvey Koffman, Bruce Kettner, Ted Nugent and many others made those days the happiest of my life. She and the other reach for the toppers became friends as well as students. I remember very well the time they took me out for dinner after we lost the provincial finals to West K. In addition Fran "house sat" for me during the summer of 1970 while I was in Europe. In fact we corresponded in French during that time. My deepest condolences to the family. Fran made my teaching career an unmitigated pleasure.   • Although Fran was not part of our Board for very long before coming ill, she was a very valued addition. I especially admired her continued attendance and insightful contributions during her treatments. She and I had many great conversations about family on our drives home!
