Date of Passing: Nov 09, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH (BETTY) ANN HUDSON (nee MCDONALD) It is with deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of their mother, Betty, on November 9, 2014. With her loving family by her side, Mum fought so hard to stay with us; however after her seven week struggle she lost the fight with cancer five days shy of her 88th birthday. Betty will be forever missed by her loving "sweetie" Bert, who was always by her side for the past 18 years. Betty is survived by her children, Edith (Will) Peters, Lex (Leslie) Hudson, Barry (Rachel) Hudson, Jo-Anne (Blaise) Ilsley and Joyce Hudson; grandchildren Mark, Jill (Siavash), Matt (Jill), Tyler (Leanne), Nick, Kiersten, Mitchell, Madison; and a great-grandson Xander Hudson. Mum is also survived by her brother Dave (Jean) McDonald, sister Josephine McDonald and brother Ian (Sylvia) McDonald. Betty was predeceased by her parents Roy and Ilo McDonald and sister Dore Price. Betty was born in Selkirk, Manitoba, on November 14, 1926 and lived most of her early years in Clandeboye, Manitoba. Betty was very athletic, enjoyed bowling, playing cards, baking, reading and doing the jumbles. Mum was an avid sports parent, spending countless hours in hockey arenas, baseball fields and school gymnasiums cheering on her children. Later in life Betty spent many hours with her sweetie' Bert dancing the night away. They also spent many hours cheering on their beloved Toronto Blue Jays and St. Louis Cardinals. Betty worked at the Children's Hospital for over 35 years and retired in 1992. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at 4:00 p.m. at Westwood Community Church, 401 Westwood Drive, Winnipeg, Manitoba. Reception to follow. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba in Betty's honour. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

My thoughts are with the family. May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always. Whenever I would run into "Mrs H" although a lot of time had passed, I always got a big hug and we would spend some time catching up even if that meant standing in the produce section in Superstore. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Chris Dawson (Kollinger) (Friend) on: Nov 13, 2014
