Date of Passing: Nov 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHARLES HENRY (HAL) PARKER On November 7, 2014, Hal went home to be with his Lord and Saviour. He was born on July 13, 1922, on Scotia Street, Winnipeg. After completing high school he worked at MacDonald Bros. Aircraft Ltd. before joining the R.C.A.F. During the Second World War Hal flew with the 78 Squadron, #4 Group, R.A.F. He completed 38 trips and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. Through the loving witness of Lenore Ritchie, Hal learned of his need of salvation. Shortly after returning from the war on October 17, 1946, he was saved by God's grace through the words of Isaiah 53:6 - "All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned everyone to his own way and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all." He was later baptized and received into fellowship at West End Gospel Hall. Over the years he served as a Sunday School teacher, treasurer and elder. On June 19, 1948, Hal was united in marriage to Lenore and together they raised five children. He is survived by his beloved wife Lenore; children Alison (Richard), John (Eunice), Ron (Alda), Stephen (Maria) and Elizabeth; his grandchildren, Rachel (Ryan), Kristin (Kevin), Jamie (Mareshah), Jonathan (Christie), Adele (Calvin), Lisa (Kevin), Courtney, Kelly, Christopher, Andrew and Joanna (Daniel). He is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and dear friends. Hal worked in the Engineering Department of Manitoba Telephone System for over 36 years retiring in 1984. Hal lived his life with a consistent love of God and a desire to please God in all that he did. He was a loving, loyal husband and father that had no problem telling each of us that he loved us. In fact, in a note he left for us he wrote: "God bless you all! I love you very much!" Our family would sincerely like to thank those who cared for Hal during his last two years. These dear folks know who they are: they are employed in Tower 4 of Deer Lodge Centre where he lived. We thank you for all you did for him. The funeral service will be held at Parkview Street Gospel Hall, 234 Parkview St., on Friday, November 14, at 1:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any of the following: Faith Bible Camp, Seedsowers, PBS and Via Magazine. A favourite verse of Hal's was John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." I knew Hal Parker through his brother, my Uncle Frank, and the days of my youth at Victoria Beach. And of course his Parents and sister Winnie on Scotia Street during the flood of 1950. - Posted by: Donald Cundall & Marlene (Family friend offers condolences and congratulations on a life well lived!
