Shulamis was predeceased by her husband, Hymie, in 2006. She is survived by her three children, Louisa (Ali) Raizman, Orah (Murray) Stein and Aaron (Marina) Tagger and her eight adoring grandchildren, Daniel, Gabby and Zach Raizman; Rebecca, Nathan and Dorit Stein; Sarah and Eli Tagger. Shulamis was born on February 11, 1933 in Winnipeg. She graduated from the University of Manitoba and worked as a social worker for many years. Shulamis was a unique "young 81 year old" independent woman. Full of vitality, vigor, and energy, she lived every moment to its fullest and she faced life on her own terms. She was a spirited woman who focused steadfastly on her well-defined passions in life. Firstly, her love and devotion to her husband, Hymie, who passed away in 2006 was unconditional. He was the love of her life and, she, the same to him. Theirs was a marriage spanning over 50 years. Shulamis's grandchildren were the center of her universe. Jewish holidays, family Simchas, graduations, and birthdays were always spent together and Baba Shushu was always a vital and integral part of the families, both here in Winnipeg and California. Shulamis's intense passion for Israel and Yiddishkeit consumed her thoughts. She enjoyed discussing Israeli politics and issues. She read books, and Jewish and Israeli papers on her iPad. And she definitely did it her way in bridge! She was an excellent, sharp bridge player. She played daily at the Tuxedo Bridge Club; she loved her bridge partners and they spent countless hours on the phone talking about their games. Her flair for fashion brought a smile to those who knew her. And her chocolates she defined the term "chocoholic". Mom was truly an extraordinary individual. Shulamis's children and grandchildren are her legacy. Services were held at Shaarey Tzedek Synagogue on October 24, 2014 and were officiated by Rabbi Green. Donations in Shulamis's memory may be made to the Jewish National Fund.
