JANET PATRICIA ROSSNAGEL (HOLOWATY)
Born: Sep 16, 1948
Date of Passing: Nov 07, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJANET PATRICIA ROSSNAGEL (nee HOLOWATY) September 16, 1948 - November 7, 2014 On Friday, November 7, 2014, Janet passed away peacefully at St. Boniface General Hospital, with family by her side, at the age of 66 years. She went to rest after a short, but difficult battle with cancer. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she will be sadly missed by all. Left to forever remember Janet are her husband of 43 years, Fred; sons Jeff (Maria) and Kevin; grandchildren Duncan and Stella; brother Andy (Doreen) Hollowaty and children Alana and Andrew; brother James (Cindy) Holowaty and daughter Zenon; as well as her sister Jocelyn Holowaty. She was predeceased by her parents Peter and Stephanie Holowaty. Janet was born on September 16, 1948. She was the oldest child of four children who, along with her two brothers and sister, grew up in Garden City attending high school and working in her father's pharmacy. Janet continued her education at the University of Winnipeg and on June 19, 1971, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred Rossnagel. Together they raised two sons, Jeff and Kevin. Over the years, she held different jobs outside the home with Winnipeg Child and Family Service and with the Manitoba Department of Justice, but family is where Janet's heart was. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and could play with them for hours. She loved holidays and special occasions and never missed a birthday or anniversary. Christmas was always her favorite, dinner with all the trimmings and family at her side. She also enjoyed gardening; travel and lunch with the "girls" from work. In accordance with Janet's wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. A private family Interment will be held in Elmwood Cemetery. The family would like to thank the palliative care team that provided support to Janet and allowed her to stay comfortable at home through most of her illness. A special thanks to those whose thoughts, prayers and visits comforted Janet in her final days. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Janet's memory to the Sandra Schmirler Foundation, 1660 Vimont Court, Orleans, ON K4A 4J4, or CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9; two charities that touched her life. Wojcik's Funeral Chapel & Crematorium, 2157 Portage Avenue, 204.897.4665, is in care of arrangements. wojciksfuneralchapel.com

Janet was the sister to my brother-in-law Andy, however was like family to us as well! She was a wonderful beautiful person who always, when at family gatherings, took the time to ask how I was doing and always had a nice conversation. I remember when I was a single mom for a while she always made sure I was invited over to family dinners. A special memory was when my kids were young we were invited to her house for Easter dinner and she had hid tons and tons of easter eggs/chocolate for the kids to hunt. Janet was truly special and we will miss her!! - Posted by: Joanne and Cameron Ogilvie () on: Nov 16, 2014

Fred, I am so sorry that your family has lost such a special link that connects you. I know that all that fixes that is to draw closer to one another. How wonderful it has been that your wife, your children's mother and grandchildren's Gran made so many special memories for you. Fred, I have been visiting on the eighth floor at St. B almost daily for the last two months. I am guessing that we probably wouldn't have recognized each other, lol, after all this time. You were a good man at OC all those years ago and I hope that you find peace with your loss. Take care. - Posted by: Kathi Ross (former co-worker ( of Fred)) on: Nov 16, 2014

My deepest sympathies to Fred and their sons on Janet's passing. I fondly remember how Fred spoke of his wife Janet and the love they had. I recall how he was looking forward to retirement so that they could travel and spend more time with each other. My deepest condolences. - Posted by: Paula Benson (former co-worker of Janet's husband Fred) on: Nov 16, 2014
