CATHERINE (KAY) KNELSON (nee WIEBE) It is with deep sorrow that the family of Catherine Knelson announces the passing of their beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother at the age of 94 on Saturday, November 15, 2014, at St. Boniface Palliative Care Unit. Kay was predeceased by her husband John Knelson, parents, and sisters Mary and Gene. Surviving and missing her are her children Carolyn (Bob) Mitchell, Sharon Wiens, Judy Shields, and Benita Rettaler (Glenn Solleveld). She will also be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren, Charlene and Greg, Ted and Tara, Kim, Kelly and Krista, and Paul and Neil, plus 14 great-grandchildren, Cameron and Alex, Nigel and Ellis, Emma and Thomas, Max and Carmen, Chloe and Avery, Calvin and Matthew, Nicolas and Ryan. She is also survived by her sisters, Lena Neufeld and Sylvia Fall, and brother George Wiebe. Kay was born on June 5, 1920, in Elkhorn, SK and raised near Lost River. She was married to John Knelson for 51 years. They resided in Sudbury, ON, Nipawin, SK, and Winnipeg, MB. For many years they travelled every summer and once John retired they were able to spend winters in Arizona. Kay wore many hats in her lifetime, and also made them. She was very knowledgeable and what she didn't know she was eager to learn. She was an accomplished seamstress, quilter, knitter, crocheter, and took classes to learn new skills such as cake decorating, lapidary, upholstery, furniture refinishing and hat making. First and foremost, though, were her faith and the joy of raising and nurturing her children, grandchildren and great-grand-children. Kay spent her last three and a half years residing at Concordia Village where she made some very special friends. Memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Winnipeg Evangelical Free Church, 500 Lagimodiere Blvd., with Pastor Ron Koleba officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice if desired. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website. Chapel Lawn www.chapellawn.ca 885-9715
