My son, MacKenzie and Kayla were born within days of each other; and our mischievous sons' names (Brett and Brent) were often used interchangeable during their early school years. We are all saddened to hear of your great loss! - Posted by: Debbie, MacKenzie and Brent Smith (Family and Friend) on: Nov 24, 2014

I knew Carla from birth - she was a very happy baby and little girl - she never seemed to stop smiling - she smiled in every situation - she warmed your heart just looking at her adorable sweet little face - if you could not love her - you could not love anyone - yes I remember her for the first time as a little girl tilting her head as she looked at me as I was driving everyone to the airport in Vancouver - to go to Winnipeg - she seemed to know that this was goodbye for a while - that little sad look she gave me as to say I don't want to go - my heart broke it was the worst thing you can experience to part from someone you love so much - the rest is a long story - after they left life seemed to die it was empty and so terribly without meaning - I don't wish those feelings on anyone - but life seemed to go on and as time passed the vacancy in my heart for this little girl would never be filled - it's got to be one of the hardest things to live through when you lose the very thing that life stands for - love - the love of a little girl - the most precious thing on earth - sweet adorable most loved - Carla the little Angel from Heaven - bless you my Darling as you go back to your home in Heaven - never good-bye but always for ever and ever my darling Angel - with love from - the one who always loved you - we'll be seeing each other again - with Jesus - Posted by: Carl Wildeman (A fill in daddy) on: Nov 20, 2014

It was with deep sadness that we learned of Carla's untimely passing. Kayla and Brett attended the "our" day care so we got know Carla and her children quite well. Her children were her whole world. I remember her planning elaborate parties for them. Carla stopped by this summer to say hello. It was so nice to see her. How were we to know she'd be gone before the year was out? On behalf of all the workers here, who knew her, please accept our heartfelt condolences. Dante Day Nursery staff: Joanne, Frances, Ana, Karen, Therese, and Krystal. - Posted by: Franca McQuiggin (friend) on: Nov 19, 2014

Kayla and my daughter Emily started daycare together at the age of two and have been 'soul sisters' ever since. Carla became like 'other mom' to Emily as the girls grew up, which was especially meaningful to me during the years I was a single parent. I will always remember, with deep appreciation, how much Carla cared about Emily, and how she offered her love and support no matter what. I know how very sad Emily is to have lost Carla, but Carla's gift to her will be with her forever. Deepest condolences to Kayla, the boys and all the family. - Posted by: Kathy Penner () on: Nov 18, 2014

Carla was an amazing person, I was so honored to have met her and had her in my life. My kids loved going to Auntie Carla's place, they would get spoiled but at the same time she would not have taken any grief from them! So many times since she got sick and passed that I have picked up my phone to call her or text her and sadly put it back down. She touched so many people in so many different ways, from her sweet loving smile to her amazing cooking. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it! She sure made you feel like part of her family! I will miss her tilting her head and giving me that like smirky smile, her up beat attitude but most of all I will miss the many laughs we had together. Carla you mean the world to me and my family - you will be greatly missed but never forgotten! We love you and see you in my dreams. Until we meet again my dear friend R.I.P. - Posted by: Danielle Chernhoski (Best Friend) on: Nov 18, 2014
