RICHARD THIEDE It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Richard Thiede. After a difficult battle with his health, his life came to an end November 17, 2014 at the age of 75. He was predeceased by his parents Katherine and Reinhardt. Left to forever cherish Richard's memory are his brothers Edward (Zena), Walter (Shirley), stepbrother Wally (Joyce), nephews Ron, Brad, Kris, Brian and niece Janet, as well as many grand-nieces and nephews. He was born and raised in Winnipeg and lived out his life in the North End. Richard enjoyed a lengthy career at the Marlborough Hotel. To say that Richard was a sports enthusiast was an understatement. He was a die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs fan and never gave up on the Yankees. Richard's door was always open. Any and all were welcome, especially if you knew how to play cribbage. There was always something cooking in his kitchen and plenty to go around. There was only one rule... "If you don't like it, don't eat it." Richard was a gentle, caring soul. He had a unique outlook on life, never getting rattled when life became challenging. Family was very important to him. Richard's heart was accepting of all and he was kind to everyone. Richard never married but always had a dog at his side. He is once again reunited with dogs Popcorn and Colonel. His dog Lady' (lab mix) will miss him. Rest in peace dear brother, till we meet again. The celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel 1442 Main Street with Pastor Paul Clerc officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Richard's memory to The Winnipeg Humane Society. 204-586-8044

  • I am so sorry for your loss. I am sad I did not get to know him better. He is my uncle and I loved him very much. I too also remember going to the third floor of his house when I was little and sneaking a look in his room, then running downstairs and sliding on the banister.
