Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGRACE MAY ARMSTRONG Grateful for her long and happy life, the family announces the peaceful passing of Grace Armstrong on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at her home at the age of 92 years. Grace was born on September 17, 1922 in Snowflake, Manitoba to Harry and Alice Sims. She moved to Winnipeg where she met the love of her life, John Armstrong. They married in 1946 and moved to Petersfield, Manitoba where they operated a garage and farmed. Grace was also employed with Selkirk Mental Health Centre, retiring in the 80's. After retirement, they filled their time with travel, gardening and family, moving to Selkirk Knights Centre in 1996. John passed away in 2003 and Grace filled her days with friends, travel, quilting, reading, cards and of course.bingo. Grace was never one to back down from adventure including frequent gambling trips, a hot air balloon ride for her 80th birthday, a roller coaster ride on the Stratosphere in Las Vegas when she was 83 years old and a ride up Dog Mountain in a cable car in her late 80's. Left to cherish her memory are her children Ken (Becky), Ray (Giny), and Pat (Keven); her grandchildren Derek, Ambyr, Chrystine, Jackie, Jeffery, Bree and Becky and their families including 10 great-grandchildren who brought a special sparkle to her eye at just the mention of their names. Grace also leaves behind a sister Mary Yake; brother-in-law Sandy; sister-in-law Mildred and numerous nieces and nephews. Others who were blessed to be a part of Grace's life are her church family at Wakefield Anglican Church and her dear friends at Knights Centre including her special friend Gertie. A celebration of Grace's life will be held on Friday, November 21, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. at Gilbart Funeral Home, 309 Eveline Street, Selkirk, MB with The Ven. Godfrey Mawejje officiating. A reception will follow at Gilbart's. If desired, donations would be greatly accepted by St. George's Wakefield Anglican Church or the Heart and Stroke Association of Manitoba.
