I remember "Bloomer's store" with Lloyd, Ted, Sheldon. I was 10 yrs old then and remember the family like it was yesterday. That was back in the 1945-1950 era. A truly wonderful family. He will be missed, BUT all the memories are still there for years to come. - Posted by: Rosalie Larcombe (Customer at Bloomer's grocery store) on: Nov 28, 2014

Hi Lisa. I just wanted to express condolences to you after reading the obituaries in the Free Press recently. I don't know your mailing address so I hope this will reach you. You just seem to look like your Dad - dark smiling caring eyes for one thing. I know he must have been a fine person, as you seemed to have such a rich childhood. I am sure he was very proud of you and your family. You will miss him. - Posted by: Clarice Gilchrist (Oldcorn) (friend of Lisa and Brian) on: Nov 24, 2014

I will never forget the first time I met Papa and Grandma. I wasn't sure about whether I should date his grandson, Ryan, or not, and Ryan decided I should decide after coming to Winnipeg from Alberta to meet all of his friends and family. I enjoyed meeting Ryan's friends, but when I met Papa, I think my decision was made. He reminded me a lot of my own Grandpa, as he recited poetry and had me laughing and crying and just feeling so special and loved - in about 5 minutes! I am so unbelievably grateful for he and Grandma's influence in Ryan's life - I'm sure that their unconditional love and prayers played a part in us meeting and helping to shape the man I am privileged to call my husband. Thank you, Papa, for modeling how to be an amazing husband, by being such a generous, loving and compassionate person to everyone and anyone you met. We will miss you but are so glad that "you've been made whole- by a love that will not let you go..." - Posted by: Lisa Bloomer (Granddaughter-in-law) on: Nov 23, 2014

We met Lloyd and Bev in February of 1979, when we returned from the military base in Germany. Even in our various postings, and now, our recent 18 yrs here in Winnipeg, again, we have enjoyed Lloyd and Bev's friendship. He was a faithful man to his God, his wife, and his family, and friends. I guess I would add Charleswood to that list. I can think of many different places they have lived in Charleswood, and area. We always enjoyed talking to Lloyd. His smile and love of people will be remembered. - Posted by: Carol and Mel Schwab, (friend of Lloyd and Bev and the family) on: Nov 22, 2014

Dear Bev, My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time of Lloyd's home going. Many memories come to mind when I think of Lloyd. Every opportunity he had he would be sharing with someone about his Savior and Lord in his unique and winsome manner. I miss you Lloyd but I know you are with Jesus and are cheering us on in our race. Hebrews. With much love, Grace Toews - Posted by: Grace Toews (friend) on: Nov 22, 2014

To Bev and the entire family. When Dad shared that Lloyd had passed, my heart paused as Lloyd was a wonderful man who always had a warm hug to share every time someone walked into the room. Know that my memories of our summers spent together at Falcon Lake will always be cherished and I only wish that I could be closer to return the warm hugs to each of you that he always gave me. Hi Rod. So sorry to hear of your Dad’s passing, and in spite of the fact that we know we will eventually lose our aging loved ones, and while we subconsciously try to prepare ourselves for that day, the loss is not any easier to accept when that day finally comes. In looking at the big smile on his face in the picture, and in reading the tributes, it is obvious that your Dad was a kind, warm-hearted, outgoing and friendly person, who touched so many people’s lives in a positive way. And knowing you as well as I do after so many years, it is obvious that these same qualities have been passed down to you, as I am sure they have been to your siblings and immediate family members as well. Colleen joins with me in sending our sincere condolences, and we both want you to know you have been in our thoughts these past few days. Uncle Lloyd had a wonderful disposition that many could agree to. His sparkling eyes, warm smile and a chuckle like no other. Our families celebrated many happy events with Uncle Lloyd, Auntie Bev and their children. A sense of humour to always remember. My most sincere condolences to Auntie Bev, Rodney, Jim, Sheri, Tracey and Lisa. - Posted by: Jeffrey Horspool (Nephew) on: Nov 20, 2014

Dear Auntie Bev, Sheri, Tracy, Lisa, Rod, Jim and Families, We were so sorry to hear of Uncle Lloyd's passing. We have many wonderful memories of years ago, of times spent with "The Bloomers" both at Clear Lake and in Winnipeg. Auntie Bev, you and Uncle Lloyd were so good to Bob and I when we got married, we've never forgotten, you bought us our first TV! Such good friends of Mom and Dad's (Sheila and Dick), we know Uncle Lloyd will be well received in Heaven. As a kid growing up in Charleswood, Bloomers in Varsity View was the place to go for shopping albeit a long bike ride from Bowhill Lane. After turning 18 (never before of course) visiting the Charleswood for a draft or 2 was a cherished routine. Sadly both edifices are long gone. Lloyd's son Rod and I were good friends and attended Scouts together. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Barry Kowalsky (Freind of the Family) on: Nov 20, 2014

Dear Lloyd (Papa), Lloyd was very devoted to his wife, family and God. He loved his many limericks and would often recite them to family and friends. Lloyd spent many days helping us out on “the farm” and would often take charge in getting some major projects completed. His help and guidance was much appreciated. Whenever anyone was setting out for a holiday, Major Packer (Papa) would assist in getting the vehicles packed and organized precisely. We will all miss you immensely. See you again one day. - Posted by: Jer Scott (Son-in- law) on: Nov 20, 2014

I worked for Lloyd and his brothers while going through high school. Lloyd was always fair and always had a warm heart and a smile for everyone he met. When I moved to Regina he would look me up whenever he passed through. The world has lost a very good man. My deepest condolences to his family. Cherish his memory. Glen Brodie.
