MILLICENT LEONORA CORBIN (nee MANNING) On November 18, 2014, Millicent Leonora Corbin (nee Manning) completed her work and entered a well-deserved rest. Millie or Lynne to her friends, she was born June 14, 1942, in Barbados, as one of nine children. She was pursuing a teaching career when she met and married her husband, Mervin Vincent Corbin, in 1967. Later that same year, they immigrated to Canada to provide a better life for their children. In Canada, she worked for many years as a bookkeeper at Grapes Kenaston and as a tax preparer for H&R Block. She continued her interest in education by taking courses throughout her life and by providing tutoring to grandson and others. She was an active member of St. Matthew's Anglican Church for over 40 years, and served in many leadership roles there. Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother, she is predeceased by her parents Archibald and Mildred Coombs, and her sister, Gloria, survived by brothers Rudolph, William, George Eustace, Edmund, Douglas, Joseph and sister Sybil. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Mervin Vincent Corbin; daughters, Caroline Corbin and Rosalen Cousins; and sons, Mervin jr. and Vincent Corbin, son-in-law Fredrick Cousins sr. and daughter-in-law Krystyna Lee Corbin. Her legacy of politeness and spirit of generosity will be carried on by her three grandchildren: grandsons, Frederick Corbin Kadeem Cousins Jr. and Lincoln James Corbin, and granddaughter Naomi Lynne Corbin. Viewing will take place at St. Matthews's Anglican Church, 641 St. Matthew's Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba, on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to CancerCare Manitoba and/or St. Matthew's Anglican Church.

  • Words, can not express how my heart is broken on Millie passing. She was a generous, kind, patient, loving, thoughtful, woman. A mother grand mother mother inlaw that saw the good in everyone. When she teaches you things she knew when or if you understood and if you did not she would explain it again and again. I always told her she was the best teacher ever. Any thing having to do with money I would ask her if she said don't do it I would not if she said go for it I would. She was a very very intelligent smart woman who never made you feel you could not learn or understand things. I will truly truly miss her. Miss her already . I know my children who were almost like her grand kids loved her very much . My heart is broken she will forever be in our heart . I thank you for being a part of our lives and forever thing you have taught us. Love and miss you ❤️❤️❤️ - Posted by: Sonia (Niece-inlaw) on: Nov 22, 2014
