Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryBALDUR OLIVER September 30, 1921 November 21, 2014 It is with sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Baldur Oliver at Vista Park Lodge. For over 67 years, Baldur was a devoted husband and friend to Gwen. He dearly loved his children Douglas (Diane) of Ottawa and Nancy Reyda (Court) of Charleswood, and grandchildren, Andrew (Charmaine) and Darren Reyda (Breanne) and Alexa Oliver. He is also survived by many extended family members. Born to Olafur and Jacobina Oliver in Baldur, MB, he was predeceased by siblings Borga Magnusson, Helga Davidson, Jonas Oliver, and Thora Oliver. He was also predeceased by an infant son, Jon, in 1954. Baldur grew up in Baldur, MB and was always proud of his Icelandic heritage. He joined the RCAF in 1941, and after discharge met and married Gwen (nee Bryant) in 1947. He was a long time employee of Swift Cdn. and after retirement worked for Cargill Feed. He enjoyed sports and music. During years spent in Neepawa, Morden and in Winnipeg, he was active in both church and community choirs. He was also a member of the Winnipeg Philharmonic Choir for 25 years. He and Gwen enjoyed family vacations, travel and their home and garden in Winnipeg. Our sincere thanks to the staff at Vista Park Lodge for their friendship and care at this difficult time. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Road United. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation Manitoba.
