Born: Jul 21, 1929
Date of Passing: Nov 20, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROSA CARMELA CARNEVALE (nee RICETTA) July 21, 1929 - November 20, 2014 It is with deep sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Rosa Carnevale, on Thursday, November 20, 2014, at Luther Home, with her family by her side. Rosa was predeceased by her husband Giuseppe (Joe) Carnevale, her parents Franco and Antonietta Ricetta, and her brothers Pasquale and Salvatore Ricetta. Left to cherish her memories are her children Maria Botincan (Joe), Lou Carnevale (Sheila), Frank Carnevale (Jacquie), Mirella Bowers (Greg); sister Francesca Carnevale; grandchildren Jennifer, Stephanie, Tatiana, Sarah, Leigha, Andrea, Matthew, Joey; sisters-in-law, Giulia Ricetta, Francesca Tocci, Enza Gesualdo (Angelo), Rita Capitano, Fernanda Cuconati; Brothers-in-law Vince Carnevale (Francesca), Silvio Carnevale (Teresa), Pasquale Carnevale (Gina), and numerous nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy. Rosa was born in Calabria, Italy, near the town of Firmo, and married Giuseppe in 1952. In 1967, she immigrated to Winnipeg with her four children to be reunited with her husband who had immigrated six months earlier. Once her children were independent enough, Rosa worked in numerous garment factory jobs until she retired in 1992. Rosa was a quiet, gentle, caring, giving, and hard working woman who was loved by everyone who knew her. There was nothing that she enjoyed more than spending time with her children and grandchildren. That was especially true during the holidays when everyone would be invited to Nonna's house to enjoy her warm hospitality and traditional mouth watering Italian cooking. We will greatly miss her; she will live on in our hearts forever and will never be forgotten. Rosa's family would like to thank all the wonderful, caring staff at the Luther Home for being so kind and helpful over the past five years. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to an Alzheimer's charity of your choice or Luther Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church 510 River Ave., Rev. Father Sam Argenziano celebrant. Viewing and condolences will commence one hour prior to the Mass. Entombment in Queen of Heaven Mausoleum, Assumption Cemetery 3990 Portage Ave. Winnipeg, MB.
