Date of Passing: Nov 16, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryAGNES LAING MCKAY On November 16, 2014, peacefully at home with family, our beloved mother passed away. Born January 5, 1929, in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland, Mum immigrated to Manitoba in 1951. Following a lovely, whirlwind courtship, she married our dear father Arthur (deceased 1988) and they happily lived and raised their family in Selkirk. Mum is survived by her daughters Alaing Clare (Steve), Gail McKay (Joey Bernard), and son Stuart McKay (Diana); grandchildren Jay Cleroux (Barb) of Kelowna, BC, Marty and Calli McKay of Lockport, Ryan Clare of Selkirk, Samantha Clare (Gord Paradowski) of Winnipeg and great-grandchildren Abbey, Jacob and Noah Cleroux of Kelowna. Agnes is also survived by her special Canadian family: nieces Minota (George) Jersak, Donna Mackay and nephew Keith Mackay (Berenice), all of Winnipeg and niece Beverly Mackay of Calgary. Left to mourn is her beloved family in Ayrshire, Scotland including William Walkinshaw, sisters-in-law Ina Laing and Rena Kerr and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by cousins Helen Taylor and Phyllis McRae of the United States. The family would like to thank all those involved in her care who had a role in her remaining in her own home. At Mum's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. The family thanks Eric Bardal, 4th generation at Bardal's, for his kind assistance. Flowers gratefully declined. Donations in Mum's memory can be made to Knox Presbyterian Church, Selkirk, MB. "She's awa' the noo."
