ELLEN HUFFMAN (nee MCNAMARA) March 9, 1918 - Blackburn, England November 21, 2014 - Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our mom, who passed away in Calgary, AB. Ellen was predeceased by Orville, her husband of 42 years, in 1984. She was the mother of David (Audry) of Calgary, Janice (David) Flood of Australia and Tara (Bill) Brown of Calgary; grandmother to Courtney and Geoffrey Huffman, Gareth Flood and Samantha and Kelsey Brown, and great-grandmother to Liam and Lily McVittie. She is also survived by her niece Bev, sister Sheila and brother Desmond, all of Winnipeg, as well as numerous nieces and nephews throughout Canada. Mom loved to keep busy and in her younger days made beautiful handicrafts for her family and friends. She travelled extensively in Canada and the United States with her husband and after his passing went often to Australia to visit with Janice and her family. Mom spent most of her life in Manitoba, being raised in Carman (where she met and married Orville). At age 95, mom left Winnipeg where she had resided since 1969 and moved to Calgary to be closer to her family. It was a huge change for her but she handled it with acceptance and determination. A memorial service for mom will be held in Calgary with interment to follow in Winnipeg, in 2015. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family by visiting leydens.com.
