VIOLET FLORENCE WERY (nee HARVIE) Peacefully on November 18, 2014, Violet Florence Wery (nee Harvie) passed away in her sleep at the Concordia Hospital. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched. Violet was born on July 25, 1923 to Matilda and William Harvie in McCreary, MB. She was one of 13 children: Bill, Jack, Norman, Wilfred, Susan, Melba, Ernie, Andrew, Henry, Mae, Benjamin and Cora. All her siblings have predeceased her. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and a sister-in-law Rose (Jack). Violet moved to Winnipeg at an early age, where she met the love of her life, Augustin Wery. They were married and spent many happy years together, at the cottage and in the city, prior to Gus passing in November 1982. Violet worked at Quinton's Cleaners for most of her working career. She spent her retirement years enjoying travel with friends, keeping track of the Bombers and political happenings, reading, bingo and socializing when she could, while always making time for anyone who required her help or support. She was a constant in many lives and will be remembered for her strength of character, sense of humour and independence. Violet made many close friends in her lifetime and will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks go out to her long-time friend Eva, for being there when she fell and her good neighbour Joan, who was her travelling partner on many tours. Also thank you to the doctors and nurses at Concordia for their care and compassion through a very short but difficult stay in the hospital. In keeping with Violet's wishes, there will be no funeral service and her ashes will be interred with Gus at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice or The Winnipeg Humane Society.
