Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILLIAM (BILL) PERCY WALKER On Sunday, November 23, 2014 at the age of 87 with his devoted wife and family by his side, Dad passed away at Treherne Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rollande (Jarnouin) and his eleven daughters, Pat (Norm) Philippe, Betty (Robert) Green, Barb (Reg) Marginet, Judy (Dave) Rea, Brenda (Bill) Nostedt, Cindy (Gord) Maddock, Sheila (Doug) Lawless, Kelly (Rick) Lounsbury, Cateland (Greg) Penner, Connie (Doug) Petersen and Sandra (Daren) Hird. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, brother-in-law Lionel (Agnes) Jarnouin and sister-in-law Yvonne Wittevrongel. Dad was born September 12, 1927 in Rathwell, Manitoba, the only child of Fred and Pearl Walker. In 1952, he met and married Rollande. During his lifetime, he worked seven winters logging in Ontario and owned his own gravel truck in addition to farming. Dad's true love and lifelong profession was farming alongside his wife which he did for 69 years, as the third generation of a Manitoba Century Family Farm. Dad started with a typical mixed farm of grain, cattle and other livestock and in later years, focused on grain farming. Dad was the ice-maker for the Rathwell curling rink for 25 years. Among many, some of Dad's hobbies included curling, travelling extensively and driving for CancerCare. Dad and Mom spent 25 years travelling to Arizona for the winter. The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of the Tiger Hills Health Services and the Notre Dame Hospital for their compassionate care. Funeral Services will be held in the Rathwell Memorial Hall on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Brian Minaker officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Treherne Palliative Care, the Rathwell Green Prairie Lodge or to the charity of your choice.
