CARL CISZEWSKI June 18, 1923 November 22, 2014 On Saturday, November 22, 2014, Carl passed away peacefully at the Selkirk General Hospital. Carl was predeceased by Florence, his wife of 64 years, parents Longin and Josephine Ciszewski, brother Leonard, infant sister Lenore and infant daughter Christine. Leaving to mourn his passing are his children, Geraldine (Frank) Zabudny, Jennifer (Mark) and great-grandson Matthew, Caralyn (Steve), Julie (Dustin); Wayne Ciszewski; Valerie (Bill) Wolchuk, Joanne (Darren), Amanda (Cory); Theresa Ciszewski; Barbara (Greg) Halabut; Monica (Ben) Fletcher, Brendan (Tiffany), Nathan (Jessica) and great-grandaughter Ayla; Michael Ciszewski and sister Adeline Collins of Fort Erie, Ontario. Carl dairy farmed with his parents and brother in the Husavick area until asthma forced him to look for other means of making a living. So he turned to working as a carpenter having worked in Winnipeg on several commercial buildings and then proceeded in the construction of many homes in the surrounding area. He took great pride in designing and building their new home and several farm buildings at their new yard site in Sandy Hook which they moved to in October of 1967. He also raised beef cattle and hogs, but quit the hog industry in the mid 1970's. In September 1997, Carl and Florence retired to Teulon, Manitoba, where he resided until his move to Gimli a year ago. A prayer service and viewing will be held on Thursday, November 27, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli, Manitoba. Cremation will follow the service and a private interment of ashes will take place at a later date. The family wishes to thank doctors and staff that assisted in his care at the Gimli and Selkirk Hospitals. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Manitoba Lung Association or to a charity of your choice. Gilbart Funeral Home, Gimli in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com.
