Lila will be missed by her sons Darrell (Sandra) Black, Edmonton, AB, Kevin (Kerri) Black, Winfield, BC; brother George Albert (Marlene) Truhn, Grande Prairie, AB; Leona Bilodeau, Winnipeg, MB; grandchildren Chris, Kimberley, Shawna and Zachary (Darrell), Kurt and Kent (Kevin); great-grandchild Abigail and baby girl to be born in March 2015 (Kimberley); as well as nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, extended family, friends and neighbours. Lila was predeceased by her granddaughter Lorelei Black (Darrell). Lila was born on October 18, 1937 in Birch River, MB, where she enjoyed living on the family ranch riding her horse Beauty. Lila moved to Bowsman, MB at the age of 16 to start her teaching career, eventually returning to school to complete both her teaching degree and Masters. Lila truly cared about her students dedicating countless hours with them creating enduring teacher student relationships. Lila always enjoyed flowers with Roses, Lilies and Sweet-Peas being her favourite; and in the summer months you would normally find her puttering outside in the garden oasis she created in the backyard. Breeding and caring for many varieties of pets reflected Lila's deep love of animals. She spent much of her time with her prized Toy and Teacup Poodles, also exotic birds such as Baby, her Blue Fronted Amazon, Cockatiels, Rosy Bourkes, Canaries and many more. Lila loved spending time with her grandchildren, doting on them and encouraging them to assist her with her passion for her animals. Thank you mom for everything, we love you and miss you already. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, November 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Westlawn Funeral Home, 16310 Stony Plain Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society. I have many fond memories of Lila when she was teaching during the time she was going with Alan Black before they got married. We had parties, played cards and had wonderful trips to Eleanor and Otter Lakes. Lila was a very special person dedicated to her boys. Lila will be missed by myself and many others. I lost my wife Laura with cancer in 2010. I now live in Kelowna BC with my partner Elaine. Rest in peace Lila, Jack - Posted by: Jack Reay (FriendS) on: Nov 26, 2014
