Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLAWRENCE SINGER It is with deep sadness that the family of Lawrence Singer announces the passing of our beloved husband, father, zaidie and grand zaidie on November 25, 2014 at Victoria Hospital surrounded by his family. He was 87. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 68 years, Marsha; five daughters: Donna, Debby (Sam), Sheree, Cindy, and Ileen (Charlie), nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his three sisters: Sheila, Sandra (Howard) and Charlotte (Al). He was predeceased by his parents Sam and Sadie; three brothers: Leonard, Irwin and Albert, and brother-in-law Moishe. Lawrence's family was everything to him and his devotion to his "harem" was legendary as was theirs to him. Lawrence was born in Chicago and moved to Winnipeg at the age of five. He grew up in the north end of the city. At 18 he joined the US Navy and served in the "Battle of the Great Lakes". When he got out of the service he returned to Winnipeg and met his future wife Marsha. They were engaged three months later and married six months after that. Lawrence spent most of his career as a salesman travelling throughout Manitoba, first for Victoria Candy and later for his own company M & L Singer Distributors Ltd. Lawrence and Marsha loved to travel and looked forward to escaping the harsh winters in Hawaii, taking cruises, or in later years in Florida with his sisters. Lawrence suffered from Alzheimer's disease for 15 years and spent the last six years at the Simkin Centre where he was very well loved and attended to by the staff on Simkin 2. Services were held on Thursday, November 27, 2014. If desired donations in Lawrence's honour may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Rest in Peace we love you and will miss you forever Dad / Oshie.

I will never forget the mans generosity. I was a young child living in Mafeking when he used to deal with my dad at the Shell. He was always so nice to me. He always had something special for me on each and every trip threw he made. I will never forget the time he found out my idol was Teemu Selanne, your neighbour. On one of my dads business trips, they were setting it all up for me to get to meet my hero, but unfortunately he was away on emergency business when we got to the city so it didn't happen. Instead, because Mr. Singer felt so bad for breaking my heart, he had my stepmom sneak out my new Jersey that was just done up with Selanne and his number and all, and took it to get it signed for me. I couldn't stop crying with excitement when he handed me that jersey in a plastic bag. Right in the middle of the crest was the signature that blew me away. I couldn't believe he took the time out of his day, to take and get my jersey signed for me. He always said I was Selanne's biggest fan and that was the least he could do. I always looked forward to our short little visits because he was just so gentle and kind hearted. So sorry to hear of his passing, and condolences to the family from myself, and my father Les Robertson..... I know it's late, but I just came across this. - Posted by: Dale Tucker (friend) on: Apr 10, 2017

Dear Marsha & family, it is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of Lawrence. He was a very kind hearted man whom I had the pleasure of knowing for many years. I have many fond memories of him and your family during his visits to The Pas over all of the years I have known him. May he rest in peace and may the rest of the family find strength in knowing he was a great person and had a great love for his family. He had a heart of gold and he is watching over all of us at this time. - Posted by: Sandra Paskaruk (nee Nikolychuk) (former friend) on: Dec 11, 2014

His work ethic was impressive and his love for his family quite evident. We became good friends and I will always be thankful that he was part of my life. - Posted by: Randy Schollenberg (Friend ) on: Dec 01, 2014

Marsha, My sincerest condolences to you & your family on your loss. Lawrence & my friendship go back to when we were about 10 or 11 years of age living on Alfred Street. I had the privilege of renewing our friendship when I was back for St Johns 75th reunion in 1985. I'm sure that he had a long, busy life, so I hope that you have comfort in knowing this. I know that death is hard to accept at first but "time somehow helps us to cope & heal our wounds. I hope that time will help you to handle your loss. G_D bless you. - Posted by: norm hirsch (friend) on: Nov 27, 2014
