Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGILBERT JOHN MCVARISH January 10, 1926 - November 21, 2014 With broken hearts we announce the passing of our beloved Husband, Dad and "Papa", with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his father Angus, mother Emma, sisters Ida and Irene, and brothers; Fred, Hugh, and Leo. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Doris, daughters Chris and Tracy, and grandchildren; Cole, Chad, Caylin, Brady, and Baily. He also leaves behind his sister Evelyn and brothers Bernard and Dennis. He was a kind and gentle soul and was loved by all who knew him. He was a devoted family man with many talents. He was an artist, an inventor, our chauffeur, an organizer, and could build or fix anything. He was always there to help us in every way. His courage and selflessness were immeasurable. He also loved his sports and doing things around the house. He was an independent and hard-working man. He had a unique sense of humour that never left him. He worked for CNR for 40 years. In the Second World War he was trained as an anti-tank gunner in the Royal Canadian Artillery. As per his wishes there will be no service and cremation has taken place. He was our "ROCK" and we will miss him forever...
