Karen was a fantastic woman & amazing mother. And it still kills me slowly that she has passed. She was a 2nd mother to me. Practically an actual mother to me. She asked me if I needed a place to stay after me coming over for a few days. She treated me like family, introduced me to her family and made sure I always had a family dinner on every special holiday because I had no family to spend it with. We would sit around and gossip about the most random things. Things we have heard in the news, about our day and so on. She would tease me about little things I did like always being on my phone, playing my games & I would tease her about her staying up "soooooo late partying" reading the first book that caught her interest at 11pm. She was always a happy person, smiling and the most loveliest lady I've ever crossed paths with. Even in her last few weeks & her last few days, she was still that amazing woman I met for the first time December 22nd 2012. It still kills me slowly every now and then that she is gone and it's worse since her passing. I love you Karen. And thank you for your blessings and the blessing you brought into this world and into my arms. Like I promised, I'll always make sure he is happy and taken care of ♡♡♡♡ - Posted by: Amanda (Friend and like a daughter to Karen.) on: Nov 07, 2015

At Kent Academy, every "Little Kid's" room was assigned a big sister to help them make beds, wash hair, etc. One year I was Karen's "Big Sister." I think we bonded because of our names and also because she was the younger sister of Kathleen, my close friend and classmate. Karen, you will always have a special place in my heart. - Posted by: Karen Seger Keegan ("Big sister") on: Mar 25, 2015

We were sad to learn of Karen's passing. She was a quiet loving person with an infectious smile! We remember one time when my husband was taking the children to Kano and the luggage was in a pull trailer, all of a sudden there was a flat tire on the trailer and the children waited with Uncle Wilf in the shade of a tree for a man to come and patch the tire. We have a picture of Karen smiling and standing beside the trailer - and now if I can find it I will put it on FaceBook. The SIM planes were not permitted to fly into Niger until later, that was the reason for the long trip to Kano. Fond memories of the Harbottle family, may God bless and comfort your hearts during this time! - Posted by: Wilf and Esther Husband (long time neighbours and friends, we lived at Galmi. I was so sorry to learn of Karen's death. I knew her at boarding school in Nigeria, West Africa. While I have several memories of her, the thing that comes to mind, over and over again, is the way her face seemed to glow when she smiled, which was often, and how kind and gentle she was. I have long wondered where she was, and cannot help wishing I had found her before now. Praying the peace of our Saviour fill your hearts throughout the years ahead. - Posted by: Susan Lochstampfor Smith (Childhood friend) on: Dec 04, 2014
