IRMA KAST Peacefully on October 25, 2014, at the age of 92 years, Irma passed away at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home. Irma was predeceased by her husband Jakob and daughter Barbara. Left to cherish her memory are daughter Ursula (John), grandchildren Candice (Eddie), Shawn (Lesley) and great-grandsons Jakob and Ejay. Irma was an only child born and raised in Hamburg, Germany. She met and married Jakob in 1943, a union that lasted happily for 66 years. In 1951 Irma, with her husband and two children, immigrated to Canada. Life, as usual, did present some unique challenges accompanying this move. Although those early years were sometimes lonely and difficult for Mom, her tenacious spirit endured and she embraced Canada as her new home. Mom was a bookkeeper by trade and worked at Monarch Wear for a number of years. Her primary focus, however, was her family. She was very devoted to her two grandchildren and her generosity in caring for them was endless. Summer found her at Camp Neustadt socializing with friends. Once driving was no longer a possibility she regularly met with friends for coffee at the shopping centre. Another one of her favourite outings was the Casino. We were fortunate to have Irma here for 92 years and she has left us with many fond memories. We will miss you but you will remain in our hearts forever. The family would like to thank the staff at Donwood for their care and compassion. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Donwood Manor Personal Care Home, 171 Donwood Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2G 0V9 Memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014, at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street.
