JUST SABATER It is with great grief we announce the passing of our beloved husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend, Just Sabater on November 28, 2014. He is survived by his loving wife Sheri-Lynn Sabater; parents, Josep and Joaquima; and sisters, Helen (Steven Fixe) and Judit Sabater. Just was born in BC on March 19, 1986, where he lived until he moved to Catalonia, the homeland of his parents. Here he spent the next several years of his life, learning the language and culture of Catalonia and developing a great passion for it before moving back to Canada. After high school, Just graduated with an honours degree in theatre and film at the University of Winnipeg. He also became an avid soccer player, to the pride and honour of his father, together with whom he shared a passion for Football Club Barcelona. Just was a caring, gentle, compassionate individual, who loved to make people laugh and bring smiles to those around him. He was a loving uncle to his nephew, Blai Sabater-Fixe, to whom he was also a godfather. He was also a devoted son, who held family in the highest esteem. His three sisters-in-law, Karina, Alana, and Vanessa, were thrilled to have gained a new brother, as were his parents-in-law, Bonnie and Ken Lewis, to have gained a son. For the last ten years of his life, he served in the military, both reserve and regular force. During his time in service he touched many lives, and made many long-lasting friendships. He was affectionate, kind, and faithful to the love of his life, and the love that they shared was almost fairy-tale. We take comfort in the fact that he is with the Lord, where his smile is now eternal. Funeral Service will take place Monday, December 8 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 255 Stafford St. Interment will follow at Brookside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Just Sabater Memorial Art Fund. Cheques may be written out to Winnipeg Centre Vineyard, 782 Main St. Winnipeg, MB R2W 3N4.

Sending you all our love, dearest son, is something our life is urging us to do every single moment we think of you. Whether we are fully aware or not, we cannot pretend that we’ve got everything under control. We never did. Even when we felt our whole being was just one thought. Always with you, most beloved and deeply missed Just. - Posted by: Josep Sabater and Jo Sabater (Parents ) on: Nov 29, 2022

We're counting on you, dearest Just, and in no way we're expecting any breaks in our grief that don't come from our faith in God. The only One who can give some relief to our affliction. Death is to love as a second is to eternity. Nothing is as brief as a blink of an eye and yet nothing is so sweet and peaceful as the light of a rising sunset. The never ending beauty is for you to enjoy, our most beloved son, in the immeasurable realm of the divine happiness where nothing and nobody can never ever destroy. - Posted by: Josep Just Sabater and Jo (Parents) on: Nov 28, 2021

I came across this page by chance and it struck me to see that Just, that little boy who enjoyed the stories he told him when they were in Crambrook, and in which he was always the protagonist, has left us. How handsome he was. As his father reminds me ... Josep, Jo, Judit, Helen ... my most sincere condolences. And to his wife I don’t know. A very big loss. A kiss from Catalonia even 6 years later. - Posted by: Rosa Serrano (Li explicava contes de petit) on: Sep 11, 2020

JUSTET del meu cor, I have finally build up the strength to say a few words that will come very short to be a complete hommage to Just. Since we were very young I have always been very proud to have you as my younger brother " best buddies" -we called ourselves and together we would conquer the world. Indeed we were Inseparable and even as we grew up we continued to share in our passions and aspirations to make this world a better place. You were the leader in this pursuit and have taught me the most valuable untangible meanings of life such as love and empathy. I am so thankful of this és pace illy today as I no longer hear your laugh but feel your love more than ever. It is magical how much love you have been able to transcend into my world as I still stand today and the memories of our lifting together will continue to guide me and your God son Blai. You will remain my "best buddy" and your passion, laughter and jokes will resonate in my heart forever until we meet again. Just "The Catalan Master" born to be a hero , born to be perfect and just ! I first saw Just's contagious smile when he moved back to Canada from Catalonia. At 13 years old he would modify European maps to highlight his homeland, and teach me Catalan phrases. He consistently scored amazing goals in the indoor soccer league his dad coached, and enjoyed a short wrestling "career" before going into film and becoming a cook. He loved Jesus throughout his life and had a strong faith in God. Together we learned "Jo soc el cami, la vida, i la veritat. Ningu no ariba al Pare sino es per Mi." I'm going to miss you, little brother, and I know because of the forgiveness we both found in Jesus that I'll see you again. My life was enriched so much because of our friendship. My deepest condolences to Sheri and the Sabater family. - Posted by: Dallas (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2014

Just, the time we spent together was too short. After four daughters I was finally satisfied to have a 'son'. The memories of our outings together where we'd talk about life and 'that Viking Movie', that we'd one day film, will always be the fondest of memories. You were a man of honour who valued and respected family, friends, and country. (Both Catalonia and Canada). I will miss you for the short time remaining here on this earth, but I take comfort in knowing it's never good-bye but always 'see you later'. Be at peace little brother until That Day. - Posted by: Ken Lewis (Father-in-law) on: Dec 06, 2014

Just was an amazingly kind and gentle young man. Even at 15 years old, when I first came to know him, he demonstrated a degree of compassion and empathy seldom seen in one so young. As a young man, he was thoughtful and respectful and he had an abiding love for his family. I will deeply miss his sweet smile and sensitive soul. My heart is breaking for your loss. I will continue to hold all of you close in my prayers. - Posted by: Shelley Marshall (Family Friend) on: Dec 06, 2014

Met Just in Dundurn on ex, awesome guy. Introduced himself to us, then told us "just call me Juicy, it's easier." Fantastic soldier and cook; he made a rough time in the field better by being funny and friendly. Only met him once for a short while many years ago, but tell everyone to this day how awesome he is. My condolences to his family and friends, he was a shining light in this world and we will miss him. - Posted by: James Hasay (Friend) on: Dec 06, 2014

Our hearts and prayers go out to all who knew Just. We had the pleasure to work with Just at an early stage in his career. HE and I would share some great conversation about life and travel. He spoke highly of his parents and his love for adventure. We will miss his genuine smile and great humor. To his family and friends we will keep his memory alive by remembering Just for the pleasure and laughter he brought to everyone who came in touch with him. As a parent with children Justs' age our hearts will forever be heavy for his parents with the loss of their son. Rest in Peace Just. Where ever your path may take you I hope our paths will cross ago. Love Harvey and Denise - Posted by: Harvey Blais and Denise Graves (Friends and Co - workers ) on: Dec 02, 2014

It was a great pleasure to have known Just. When I first met him, he was a shy young man and very sweet. Over the years he opened up and became quite the joker. He was bright, witty, funny and caring. I will miss the silly conversations as well as the serious ones. Let's not forget the fake tumbles and our love for soccer. I think everyone will agree that his beautiful smile will be missed the most. I will forever miss him. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. Rest well Just. - Posted by: Mona Krcadinac (Friend and Co worker) on: Dec 02, 2014

Thank you for your kind words. In times like these where the grief for such a tragic lost is almost unbearable the memory of our dearest son brings out the best of everyone who knew him Just, the one and only. The Catalan Master. Our entire lives as Just's parents have been the most precious blessing, one that can only have come from heaven. And we believe from the bottom of our hearts that now Just is at peace in heaven. His goodness has touched many lives and we will always give him thanks for being our son and admire and praise forever his self giving love. - Posted by: josep and joaquima Sabater (Just' s parents) on: Dec 02, 2014

You were one of truest friends I ever had in this life full of people that just come and go. Jokingly doing 'the fusion dance' in the hallways at SNC, playing video games and just basically being goofy kids all the way to randomly calling me to see if I wanted to have a beer with you. My heart is broken but you remain with me as a loving memory. I miss and love you brother. RIP dearest friend. - Posted by: (friend) on: Dec 02, 2014

Just, I will always hold our goofy conversations and shenanigans in my heart forever. I'm still in shock. My heart goes out to all of your family and friends. I will always cherish the Canadian rejects fc shirt you gave me. I hope you found the peace you needed, and I can't wait until the day we can joke around again. Rest in peace my friend. - Posted by: Les Mcleod (Friend and co-worker ) on: Dec 02, 2014

The world is not a better place without him in it. Just was a great person & friend to me & my wife. I had taken Just to see his favourite rock band (Korn) when we were still in Winnipeg. He Loved his native Catalan & Barcelona FC. I also had the pleasure of acting in a short movie which Just had directed & produced for his university studies. Our deepest sympathies go out to his wife & family. He will be forever missed. RIP my friend. - Posted by: Chris Nevin & Laurie Elliott ( Friends & Co Workers ) on: Dec 02, 2014

I just would like to say, Just was a wonderful young man, very respectful. He deserved everything good in life. He loved his family and was very proud of them. He was especially proud of his Dad's book of poetry. I didn't see him for a while but when I did he told me he had a girlfriend. I was happy for him I asked if she was a nice girl his reply was Yes too nice for me, and then he gave me that sweet smile of his. I know he was very sensitive and im sure he kept alot to himself. Im sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you. - Posted by: Chawna wiseman (co-worker ) on: Dec 02, 2014
