Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILLIAN (HONEY) P. SNIDER April 8, 1917 November 29, 2014 It's with sad hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Lillian (Honey) P. (McRae) Snider. Mom is survived by her son Ron (Sheila); five grandchildren, Ron (Kendra), Frankie (Eric), Scott, Grant and Kathleen. She loved to see her great-grandchildren and held them all in her heart, John, Jessica, Xavier, Melissa, Braden, and Kestin. She will be met on the other side by her beloved husband Elmer, great-grandson Jeffery, parents J. J. Malcolm and Harriet (Phillips) McRae, brother, sisters, nieces, nephews and many friends. Mom lived life to the fullest, whether it be Highland Dancing, playing softball, curling, dancing or dressing up, she was always there to give it her best shot. Mom was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in 2003 and represented Manitoba Senior Ladies Curling in 1974 and 1978. She loved to knit and sent many lap robes to Children's Hospital, and if she could craft it with her hands she was in, even at Betel she was building a castle with her pill cups. Mom was born and raised in Winnipeg where she met and married Dad on September 8, 1940. They started married life in the Princeton Apartments on Broadway, later moving to Moncton Ave. and then to the apartment on Henderson Hwy. In the late 1950's she helped Elmer and Ron to clear the land and build their cottage at Breezy Point. She was an avid fisher and had many Master Anglers to her name. She enjoyed her annual fishing derby with the Winnipeg Wigglers and was sad when she could no longer go. Mom was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 42 and the Over 60 Club. She looked forward to attending their monthly meetings, especially when she was able to get up to dance. Mom also enjoyed going to the Halloween Dance where she always dressed in costume and to the New Years Eve Dance where she looked forward to dancing in the New Year. She looked forward to playing bingo every Saturday with Sheila and liked it best when she won. She made many friends through the years at the various places she lived and with the different clubs she belonged to. She continued to make friends when she moved to Selkirk to be closer to Ron and Sheila. She lived at the Lion's Centre until July of this year, was a member of the Gordon Howard Senior Centre where she took up floor curling at the young age of 93, and also where she enjoyed doing crafts with Beverly. When her health started to fail she moved into the Betel Nursing Home and there she made friends with not only the other residents but the staff as well. She especially loved the nurse who brought her rum at bedtime. She only ever had kind words to say about all the staff, whether they bathed her, helped her dress or transported her oxygen from her room to the dining room, she appreciated all you did. As a family we would like to thank you all for your care, love and support of this special lady. I know she made you smile and laugh when she unveiled this year's costume for Halloween. Cremation has taken place and a service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, 309 Eveline St., Selkirk, MB. Please wear your brightest clothes as we celebrate the life she lived to the fullest. If you wish, donations can be made to Royal Canadian Legion Branch 42 Poppy Fund, Gordon Howard Centre or a charity of your choice. We will always miss Lil's smile and enthusiasim for life. She was always the life of the party. We knew her as a neighbor in Morse Place (we lived on Munroe) and friend in 1660 Henderson, where she was a beloved member of the Senior's Club for many years. All of us miss her.
