MORLEY HAROLD ROSAASEN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Morley Harold Rosaasen, with family by his side, on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 in Winnipeg, MB, at the age of 78 years. Moe succumbed to complications following a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. Left to cherish Moe's memory are his wife Doreen; son Kenneth Grant; daughter Wendy (Dwayne Konrad); grandchildren Ryan Plesh (Jennifer) and Amanda Konrad (Scott); great-grandson Nate; siblings, Joyce Rowe, Carol Parkes, Lennard Rosaasen, Barbara Evans, Sharon Monchamp (Bob), Gary Rosaasen (Sherryl), Judy Webb (Ken), Val Coss, Bonny Olson-Piercy (Harold), Dean Rosaasen (Marilyn) and Diane Sutherland (Roy); sister-in-law Donna Beekenkamp (Ron); brother-in-laws Tony Zimmerman and Lloyd Widdifield, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Hazel and Harold Rosaasen; sisters Belinda Widdifield and Helen Zimmerman; brother-in-law Ken Rowe; sister-in-law Donna Rosaasen; mother and father-in-law Millicent and Charles Harding, as well as nephew, Jason Monchamp. Moe was born in Flin Flon, MB. Until 1980, he worked as a stereotyper at the Winnipeg Tribune, and then for 24 years he was a co-owner with his sister Bonny and brothers Dean and Lennard of the Gondola Pizza on Pembina and Oakenwald. They generously hosted many family and friend events at the restaurant where jokes, tall tales and new memories were formed. Moe was above all a family man who loved his wife, children, grandkids and his many brothers, sisters and their extended families. He and Doreen loved to travel in their early years especially with his sister Joyce and Ken Rowe, and friends Boris and Terry Balamatowski. Moe loved camping and summers at the family cottage in Matlock, MB. He was an avid card player and almost every family gathering saw a whist tournament break out. He was quick with a smile, and every opportunity to tell a joke or commit a prank would bring rounds of laughter. Moe had a fondness for their many pets and they in turn had a fondness for him. He was an avid Coca Cola antique collector and enjoyed his many outings with his friends in the Toy Club'. Moe loved his many lunches with Ed and Jolly Marchuk, and sister Sharon and Bob Monchamp. In keeping with the families' wishes, a closed, private service will be held for the immediate family. We appreciate all the care givers over the past few years including Charlene from the Winnipeg Health Authority. Especially those of the Interlake Health Authority, Jana and Linda and the unbelievable supervisors in charge. The family expresses their sincere thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Grace who attended to Moe and the family during this difficult transition. Their compassion and professionalism was exemplary and exceeded our expectations. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Morley's name directly to the Parkinson Society Manitoba, 414 Westmount Drive, Winnipeg, MB R2J 1P2, (www.parkinsonmanitoba.ca) or the P.A.W.S Inc., Box 1426, Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 3N9, (www.portageanimalwelfaresociety.com). • While I have had the distinct pleasure of meeting many countless friends in my life, I have never ever had a friend like Moe. He was the truest, kindest, most compassionate and entrusting man that existed in our world. We shared a loving trusting bond that will never be replicated. I learned so much from my mentor. The countless hours, days, evenings….every moment was an experience of fun, sillyness and tudoring. His kind, loving disposition to his pets and to people (in that order) was one of envy to all of those that knew him. Moe’s humour never faded. Our conversations always contained updates on our cats, our families, friends and a joke that some would consider sick and twisted. While this wicked disease was so difficult for Moe, he was blessed with the continual 24/7 care that no patient anywhere could be so blessed to have. Doreen, we all love you for your endless love and devotion to Moe. It is time for you to take a break wonderful lady. I know this would be Moe’s wish. You have been a god-send during this most difficult time. Its hard to imagine life without you Moe … the many memories however will keep you very much alive in our minds. “go rest high on that mountain my dear friend … your time for rest has come” Sincerest Condolences to Doreen, Wendy, Dwayne, Ryan, Kenny and the large beautiful Rosaasen family. • I visited Winnipeg many, many summers as a child and my memories of Uncle Sonny were ones of pure joy. My uncle was always smiling bubbly and he could hardly wait to take a shot at my nick name bubbles/ a little bit of a teaser and joke stir for sure. Not many called me Bubbles, but he sure did and his affectionate labelling said a lot. He was quite a wonderful person, never a negative comment came out of his mouth that I can remember and if it did, the person darn well deserved it. Watching his battle with Parkinsons, and realizing he was alive inside a machine that wasn't working with him kept me in ahh. He was strong, determined to embrace what was dealt to him. I love him and will dearly miss him. Love Bubbles - Posted by: Uncle Sonny (Uncle ) on: Dec 03, 2014
