Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemorySOPHIE SIWICKI October 23, 1918 December 2, 2014 Peacefully on December 2, 2014, Sophie passed away at the Golden West Centennial Lodge at the age of 96. She was predeceased by her grandson Daniel Lambert in 1999 and her husband of 51 years Walter in 2000. Sophie is survived by her six children Wanda Lambert (Jerry), Alexander Siwicki (MaryAnne), Jerry Siwicki (Kris), Christine Gault (Carl), Irene Lebleu and John Hince Siwicki (Therese). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was born Zofia Maliszewska in Zlotniki, Poland to Leon and Maria (nee Kryska) Malizewska. She endured the ravaging times of war, where she served captive time in German farm camps. After the war, she made her way to Canada, where she met Walter who served in the Polish (British) Army. They married in 1949 in Portage la Prairie, MB. Hence after, they settled in the West End area of Winnipeg. Sophie was a devout and long-time member of St. John Cantius Church. Sophie shared her time between raising and caring for her family at home while working at numerous custodial jobs in particular the Winnipeg International Airport and the Winnipeg General Hospital. She was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Winnipeg Polish Canadian Branch 246, serving on the women's auxiliary. She also performed countless hours of volunteer work with Deer Lodge Hospital. She will always be remembered by her family, friends and anyone who was fortunate enough to cross her path, as an extremely caring, giving, friendly and hard working person that anyone could imagine. She will be missed. The family wishes to express their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to all the staff at the Golden West Centennial Lodge for the many years of special care they provided to Sophie. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 5 at 2:00 p.m. at St. John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Avenue with viewing prior to service. Interment at Holy Ghost Cemetery. 204-586-8044

Grandma you were always so amazing. My memories of your home always full of family and laughter. Oh we can't forget the fabulous food. I am sorry I can't be there to celebrate your amazing life but know I love you. To the rest of the family I miss you and love you and hope someday I can bring my son Ozzy to meet you.
