DOUGLAS WILLIAM KENNETH MCCOMBS Peacefully passed away on November 25, 2014 at the age of 75 in Kelowna, BC. He leaves behind son Jason McCombs (Theresa), daughter Jodi Nazer (Rob), grandchildren Brooke, Blake, Madison and Mackenzie who all loved and cherished him. He has also left behind his sister Kerry Enns (Brian), brother-in-law Larry McClarty (Jackie) and many nieces, nephews and great friends. Doug was predeceased by wife, Gerri, mother Marge McCombs and father Herb McCombs. Doug had a few hobbies... indulging in a bakers' dozen from time to time, wood working and of course he also enjoyed bragging about the numerous beer consumption records he held at Legion #9. He loved listening to music and was a fantastic dancer, he could sure jive. Hot weather was important to Doug, he loved to travel to Mexico and down south visiting friends. But by far his favorite hobby were his children, their spouses as well as his grandchildren. A dedicated father and grandfather throughout the years he was always there for all of us at any time. We could not have asked for anything more, we were blessed with the best father. Doug worked for Pembina Dodge for 38 years before retiring in 2004. He was a very loyal company man and he was proud to work there. Doug was very well known in the automotive industry in Winnipeg, he won numerous awards for his exceptional sales work. He had many friends and great customers in the industry and he will be missed by all. Dougie had the best sense of humor and always stood out in a crowd. His laugh could be heard miles away. He had that gift of making people laugh even at the end of his life. Doug had an abundance of friends everywhere through work and play but his best friend was his loving wife of 48 years, Gerri. Dad missed her so much, they were inseparable until her passing; now they are together again. We would like to think that they are dancing together lighting up a room. Dad and Grandpa you will be forever loved and remembered. Your memory will always live on with us through laughter. We know that you loved us all as we loved you and will continue too. Special thanks to Dr. A Morris and palliative care nurses Anne, Lisa and Kathleen for the excellent care and compassion provided. In lieu for flowers donations can be made to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society. • To all of you! I'm once again saddened to hear of another great loss to you all! I will always remember the first time I met your dad, it was at your house on Beach on Xmas eve. Your mom had invited a few of us Safeway girls over for a few. I walked in and there was Big Dougie standing under the mistletoe and planted one on me and let out his great Dougie laugh. I enjoyed getting together with both your parents and having a great time and lots of laughs. Your parents were both so proud of their children and were always talking about you kids. I still have customers that talk about the good old days at Safeway with Gerri, and we laugh! I feel honored to have had the opportunity to party with both Doug and Gerri! Now they can dance to Garth Brooks ..Take care of each other hugs Jaylene - Posted by: Jaylene Eichel -Roche (Friend (worked at Safeway with my buddie Gerri) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • I always looked forward each week to see Doug walk into my office. His smile and his laugh would brighten my day. He was truly a gentleman, and a pleasure to deal with. And if Doug was at an event, we knew we would have fun. - Posted by: brian klym (friend) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • Jodi, Jason, Rob, Theresa and kids....we are so truly sorry for your loss. We loved your Dad like he was our own Dad. We will never forget his terrific and amazing laugh that warmed us from the bottom of our souls. The jokes, the fun, the easy-going love that we always felt when we were with him will forever live in our hearts. • Jason, Jodi and your family, I would like to send my condolences and deepest sympathy to all of you of the lost of your incredible father and grandfather. Doug will always be remembered as such a hilarious and kind loving man. I will always remember the years spent at Forall Campground, the times we had the laughs and all the great pictures. Actually I still have the one of our Dads and my Uncle Herby dressed in their ballerina outfits hanging in the cabana. I think your mom is having the time of her life with your dad being with her again. Thinking of you as I know this is never easy especially at this time of year. - Posted by: Wanda Yanosik (Keller) (Friend of the family) on: Dec 06, 2014
