Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARIE-THERESE ANNA (THERESA) GILLIS (nee BOHEMIER) May 12, 1921 November 28, 2014 Peacefully, on November 28, 2014 at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton Alberta, Theresa Gillis passed away at the age of 93. Theresa leaves to cherish her memory her children; Lionel, Maria (Murray) Bamforth, Brian (Michelin), Lucille and Robert; her sister Fabiola (Fay) Bohemier; her grandchildren Corey (Dawn) Alberg, Kevin (Carolina) Bamforth, Janice (Andreas) Bamforth, Donovan and Evelyn Gillis; great-grandchildren Riley, Brandyn, Sophia and Avery; and several nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Wilfred; her sons Paul and John; her brothers Victorin, Celestin, Florent, Ulysse (James), Ephrem, Eloi and Lionel; her sisters Marie-Jeanne Savoie, Sr. Aline s.g.m. (Grey Nun), and Evelyn Hart. Theresa grew up in Ste. Anne, MB, one of 12 children. She moved to Winnipeg where she met and married Wilfred and raised her six children. In her limited spare time, she was a gifted artist and seamstress and loved tending to her flower gardens. Later, she would move to St. Albert, AB and worked at the Youville Nursing Home, assisting residents and providing crafts for fund raising purposes. Theresa lived with her son, Robert, in St. Albert who took special care of her throughout her retirement years. She enjoyed attending church, travelling, Caribbean cruises, and dining out with Robert and family members. The family would like to thank the staff and residents at Miller Crossing Nursing Home, where she resided the past year, and the doctors and nurses at Misericordia Community Hospital. An open prayer service was held on December 3, 2014 at Memories Funeral Home in Edmonton, AB to be followed by a private family funeral service in Winnipeg, MB on December 10, 2014 at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church. I had the great pleasure of meeting Mrs.Gillis many times thru my long time freindship with Lucille and the Gillis family. She was always gracious,friendly and a pleasure to sit and visit with and she was always enjoyed lots of good laughs. You lived a great life Mrs.Gillis and until we all meet again!
