MAE ELIZABETH WILLIS (REYKDAL) June 27, 1928 - December 3, 2014 With tears in our eyes, and love in our hearts, we said goodbye to our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Mae, as she passed peacefully on to heaven. She is survived by her children Barry (Marge), Beryl (Larry Specaluk), and Alvin (Elaine). She also leaves behind grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Rhena (Doug, Noah and Andrew), Gavin (Cindy, Carson and Marshall), Derek (Sherry), and Erin (Craig and Max). As well as her brother John and sister Joyce. Mae was predeceased by her parents Julia and Gillie, dear husband Joe and cherished son Murray. Mae was born and raised in Winnipeg Beach and resided there her entire life. After marrying Joe in 1948, they bought a farm on the edge of Winnipeg Beach where they raised their family. With her strong work ethic, Mae worked tirelessly side by side with Joe and helped with all aspects of life on the farm. Never one to shy away from hard work, she loved the farm, her huge garden, flower beds, cooking, baking, canning and perogie making! She had a steadfast faith which she lived out at Winnipeg Beach United Church where she was always happy to help out with whatever was needed. She belonged to the Winnipeg Beach Seniors Club and enjoyed the weekly card games and activities. She was a strong supporter and believer of the NDP. She had a passion for curling and loved playing and watching the game for many years. She was one of a kind, and most importantly, she was ours. She will be telling Joe to grab the crib board and cut the deck! Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Hwy. 9 and Lake Avenue, Winnipeg Beach. Viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to Winnipeg Beach United Church, Box 382, R0C 3G0 would be sincerely appreciated. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

  • First met Mae through curling but then I was fortunate enough to get to know her at our church. I admired her greatly for her unwavering faith and dedication to our church. She is going to be truly missed but it is comforting to know that she now rests in heaven with all those who have gone before her lighting her way. Rest in Peace Mae. - Posted by: BARBARA HOLMSTROM (Part of Church Family) on: Dec 06, 2014
