RON STEFANIK Suddenly and unexpectedly on December 2, 2014 Ron passed away at home at the age of 69. He is survived by the love of his life, wife, Olive and his adored children who idolized him: Geoff (Shelley and son Carson) and Tammy (Robert) Pike. Left to mourn Ron's passing are his loving grandchildren whom he totally adored, Brooke Stefanik, Gregory, Derek and Ashlyn Pike. Ron also leaves behind his mother Betty, brother Larry (Pauline), sister-in-law Darlene (Paul) Wieringa, nephews Cory and Justin Wieringa, Jason Stefanik, and niece, Jennifer Stefanik, all who loved and adored their special uncle. He also leaves to mourn many loving friends and family. Ron was predeceased by his father Joe, mother-in-law Marjorie, and father-in-law Joseph Squires. Ron was born October 25, 1945 to Joe and Betty Stefanik. He was raised in St. Andrews, Manitoba and he lived his entire life on McLennan Road. Growing up Ron was an avid sports fan. He spent his younger years playing hockey, baseball and golf. He worked his entire career at Grinnell Supply Sales (later Mueller Flow Control) for over 44 years where he met many co-workers who became lifelong, close friends and with whom he still kept in touch with since his retirement. Ron was a loving father, husband and grandfather who never ever let us down. He was known as a storyteller to all of us. He could make his children and grandchildren laugh and smile with his fantastic imagination and ability to perform the stories with his body language and emotions. Ron met the love of his life, and best friend Olive at the young age of 17 and spent the better part of 50 years with her. He absolutely and wholeheartedly loved her and treasured every day he spent with her. He delighted in sitting together in their gazebo on a warm summer day, just soaking in the presence of each other. Mom and Dad travelled for many years and always looked forward to their yearly trip to Puerto Vallarta with family and friends. Dad also looked forward to his summers spent at Camp David living in the "Metal Motel". Known as "the life of the party", Ron will truly be missed by all of us. We will miss his laugh, his stories and most of all his love and dedication to his family and friends. Ron's funeral will be held on Wednesday, December 10 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home with a reception to be held at Rossdale Hall at 537 Donald Road in St. Andrews, MB following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery 204-338-7111

  • Our deepest condolences go out to the Stefanik & Wieringa families. I have been life long friends with Ron's nephew; Justin Wieringa, who introduced me to his Uncle. I was also lucky enough to grow up on McLennan Road, where the legend of Ron Stefanik is a large one. Any resident of the street knew what a fantastic waver, he was. I was so fond of Ron I lovingly refereed to him as "Uncy Ron." He was the life of the party and an amazing story teller. I miss him immensely already. "Watch out, CJ!" - Posted by: Michael Lacroix & Alisa Abuda (Friends of the Family) on: Dec 10, 2014

  • To Olive and Family, You're in My Thoughts & Prayers, Saddened to hear of Ron's passing. It was only a few months ago at the Pig Roast when he asked me to sing him "Tiny Bubbles". I have fond memories of Ron, Dave and the gang coming over to Mom & Dad's on Friday nites to party with my parents. Laughing and singing around the piano. Memories that can never be taken away. - Posted by: Diana DuVal - District Director Air Canada Pionairs () on: Dec 10, 2014

  • Olive, Geoff and Tammy, We feel how weak and fruitless any words of ours would be, at this time of great sadness. We pray that our heavenly father may ease your bereavement and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost. The summers spent at Big White with you Olive and Ron, are some of the fondest memories in our lives. Ron you will be missed forever. - Posted by: Greg, Lucy, Jeff, Trisha, Kayden McLeod (Friends) on: Dec 09, 2014

  • Our deepest condolences to Olive and all the family. Words cannot express how we feel. If it wasn't for Ron marrying my cousin Olive, Dave and I wouldn't have met as we both were in their wedding party. We also went on their honeymoon with them which is one of the many funny stories we shared and laughed about. Our cabin 'Camp David' will never be the same. There will forever be something missing. We always looked forward to your presence because we knew it would be filled with laughter. Our hearts are broken. We know there is another angel now watching over us. Ron SYOTOS. Love you. • I have known Ron since he met my lovely cousin Olive. Unfortunately, because we lived out of Province our get togethers with Ron and Olive were few and far between. However, like everyone has expressed here, he was a man full of life, love and laughter and always greeted and left you with a smile on your face and a sore side from laughter. Since Ron and I have recently retired we were able to meet more frequently and just this past September we were fortunate enough to have spent three days at my sister Chris' cabin with her husband, Dave, along with Ron, Olive, Paul and Darlene. It was during those three days that we got much closer to Ron and like averyone else has stated, left us looking forward to the "next time". Sadly that will not be, but he will forever live in our happy memories. Our sincerest condolences to Olive, Tammy, Geoff and the rest of the family. - Posted by: Rick Black and Lise Lariviere-Black (Cousin of Ron's wife Olive) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • I send my deepest condolences on the passing of Ron. He truly was one of a kind. The way he loved all his family and friends will be forever missed. He always knew just what to say at any given moment. When Ron walked in, the room truly lit up. I will never be same by the footprints he left on my heart. Here is a passage from the Bible, I thought might ease the pain, knowing that Ron was greeted at the gates of heaven. Psalm 15:1-5 who may worship in your sanctuary, Lord? Who may enter your presence on your holy hill? Those who lead blameless lives and do what is right, speaking the truth from sincere hearts. Those who refuse to gossip or harm their neighbors or speak evil of their friends. Those who Despine flagrant sinners, and honor the faithful followers of the Lord, and keep their promises even when it hurts. Those who lend money without charging interest, and who cannot be bribed to lie about the innocent. Such people will stand firm forever. I have no dout and beleive with all my heart that the Lord himself came down and walked Ron home. Rest well knowing he is home and is now your guardian angle watching over you and his precious beloved family. Rip Ron Denise Pochinko - Posted by: Denise pochinko () on: Dec 07, 2014
