MARY HUNCHAK (nee KOLPAK) Peacefully Mom passed away at the age of 84 years on November 28, 2014 at the Souris Personal Care Home after a brief illness. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Edward, daughter Deborah and son-in-law Dwight. She is also survived by sisters Agnes and Dorothy (Jack), nieces and nephews. Born and raised in Winnipeg, she married Edward in 1953 and just celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on October 17, 2014. In 2013 Mom and Dad moved to Souris, Manitoba to live the quiet, friendly, small town life with their daughter and son-in-law. Here, Mom resided in the Crescent Manor and met many friends while enjoying her bingo games, congregate meals, attending town activities and weekly luncheon and shopping excursions to Brandon. Regularly visiting Dad in the Souris Personal Care Home, Mom came to know a lot of staff and residents and took part in many of the Home's activities and celebrations. After a short stay in the hospital, Mom moved to the Care Home where she spent her last days among family and friends. A special thank you to Dr. Cram and the nursing staff at the Souris Hospital for the level of care Mom received while there, and a very special heartfelt thank you to the caring, compassionate staff at the Personal Care Home for making Mom's final days as peaceful as possible. Mom's wishes for cremation have taken place and a private family service will be held at time of burial in Brookside Cemetery in Winnipeg. Mom, you will be greatly missed.
