We would also like to thank the staff at the Health Scienecs Centre and especially Jane, Jennifer and Ramone on DG2. Thank you to her doctors Goytan and Caners for doing your best and calling a spade a spade. To all her postal and horse riding friends, thank you for being supportive during this difficult time. A celebration of her life will be held on December 18, 2014 at the home of her sister Betty at 509 Larsen Ave. between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers please send donations to CancerCare or the Winnipeg Humane Society.

Condolences & Memories (17 entries)

  • I was most saddened to hear of Barb's passing. I first met Barb nearly forty years ago when I began my career at the post office, and she was a part-time postal clerk in the evenings at the downtown plant. At the time, I was driving a '67 Camaro and Barb was driving a Hemi 'Cuda. Needless to say, at the after work parties we talked cars! Barb was always enthusiastic and passionate about her hobbies, and most certainly her job. We were working at the same depot as letter carriers when I retired, and I marvelled at her stamina and stick-to-it-iveness when it came to picking up extra routes at the end of day. Nobody could outwork Barb! I will miss the occasional roadside chats we would have when I happened upon her out doing her route these last few years. It was indeed a pleasure to know her. Please accept my heartfelt sympathies for your loss. - Posted by: Michael Resch (Former co-worker ) on: Dec 17, 2014

  • Steve and I had the privilege of knowing Barb for 5 days between Nov 20 and 25 when she and Steve shared a room in DG246. She made quite an impression! Caring and curious despite her significant pain. We had many good conversations through the curtain despite the fact that Steve and Barb only met face-to-face three times. It was very moving for us to witness the love that her friends and family showed to her when they came to visit. So sorry for your loss. She has been often in our thoughts and prayers since we had the honour of having our path cross with hers. - Posted by: Jen and Steve Rogalsky (roommate at HSC) on: Dec 16, 2014

  • My deepest heartfelt sympathies go out to all of Barb's family and close friends. Barb showed a high level of commitment and loyalty to all the things that were important to her, whether it be her beloved dog, her horses or her job at Canada Post. To say that she was a hard worker or had a good work ethic would be an understatement. Barb... this was something you should have been proud of, and something we should all celebrate about you. Rest in peace. - Posted by: Lesley Clarke () on: Dec 09, 2014

  • Sorry to hear of Barb's passing. My condolences to her family. I worked with Barb as a fellow letter carrier until my retirement 2 years ago. We worked side by side, divided by the cubicle but our voices could be heard and we had many conversations. She was a hard worker and sad that she didn't get to retire and live a long healthy life. Will be sadly missed. Your friend Peter - Posted by: Peter Schneider (co-worker) on: Dec 08, 2014

  • My heartfelt condolences to Barb's family. Barb was a friend of mine for many, many years. We had a lot of laughs and experiences from riding horses in the mountains, fun shows and trail rides. She was one of the most passionate persons I have ever known when it came to her animals and always had a spark in her eye and a smile. A hard worker and a excellent employee, honest and forgiving. I will miss her so much. RIP Barb. - Posted by: Gwen (Friend) on: Dec 07, 2014

  • Our condolences to Barb's family. We spent many hours in the saddle with many fond memories of week long trips riding the trails at Riding Mtn. National Park and Birds Hill Park a little closer to home. Took riding lessons together where Barb was always eager to learn. Wherever Barb was so was her loyal companion her dog who often followed her along the horse trails. Barb had an amazing work ethic always taking on overtime at the post office and helping her friends whenever she could. She fought hard and was courageous to the end. She will be missed!
