MARY (MAY) ANGNES TOWN
Date of Passing: Dec 01, 2014
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY (MAY) AGNES TOWN It is with sadness we announce the passing of May Town, on December 1, 2014. Stricken with Alzheimer's disease, resulting in a difficult past few years, May led an amazing life punctuated by her quiet strength, courage, and determination. May is survived by her husband of 67 years Robert (Bob) Town; her children Audrey (Lorne), Wendy (Hugh), Rick (Jane), Patti (Bob); 10 grandchildren, Allison, Todd, Kim, Mike, Dave, Jeremy, James, Randall, Nikki, and Cam; along with 10 great-grandchildren. As a stay at home mom, she raised four children and provided care to numerous nieces and nephews. She worked tirelessly to provide a loving home. Self-taught, she excelled at sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking and of course, baking (never once using a recipe and yet everything turned out perfectly). Our home and surrounding neighbourhood was always filled with the pleasant aroma of baked bread and rolls. May loved watching sports on TV, especially the Grey Cup, and was an accomplished 5 pin bowler. She also was enthralled with the golden age of cinema and music, and regaled in the stories of Frank Sinatra and his 'Rat Pack'. May returned to work part time and moved to full time administrative office work, finally retiring as Office Manager at Export Packers. May gained great satisfaction from her career. In her spare time between bowling and gardening, she attended meetings of Ladies of the Nile and enjoyed going to Bingo and the local casino. Bob and May travelled often, including trips to Australia, Europe, the Caribbean, many trips on Via Rail across Canada, camping, and as Snow Birds' at their winter home in Pharr, Texas. A Celebration of Mom's life will take place on Wednesday, December 10, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel at Misericordia Place, 44 Furby Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba. We wish to thank the wonderful compassionate staff of the 3rd floor Misericordia Place for the excellent care and support they have given our Mother and family. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba to help cure this debilitating disease or to Misericordia Place. "The world's favorite season is the spring. All things seem possible in May." - Edwin Way Teale Holiday gatherings on Mulvey, retiling the roof at the farm (followed by lemonade and lunch) and summers chatting in the backyard are among my cherished memories of a very special lady. Aunty May defined quiet elegance and grace coupled with integrity, determination and a joie de vivre that defined the idea for future generations. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the entire family along with thanks for sharing the gift of May's enduring legacy. - Posted by: J. Hutchison (Nephew) on: Dec 14, 2014

Our thoughts are with the Town family. Even after almost forty years, we still have great memories of May, Bob, and Wendy at the post bowling and Grey Cup parties while we lived in Winnipeg. May will be missed by all. - Posted by: John & Karen Deans (Friends) on: Dec 08, 2014

It is with great sadness to read of May's passing on December 1st. Knowing May and the Town family is part of my fondest memories. Times at the Uptown Lanes with the pre AND post social parties most bowling nights... May and Bob with boundless energy and enthusiasm. Their home always open to welcome all of us throughout the year... Best thoughts for Bob and the family. My father-in-law recently became a resident at Misericordia Place, and I will think of May when visiting MP3. - Posted by: Brad Wladyka (friend) on: Dec 07, 2014

I am so sorry to hear of May's passing. She was one awesome lady who opened her home to all us young brats for the after bowling party. I will never forget her kindness to all of us. Bob and May were like a second set of parents to us. Big hugs to Bob and the family. Safe travels to heaven May. - Posted by: Terry Leah (Friend) on: Dec 06, 2014
